I made a set too. They tracked fine with no adjustments. Mine are UGLY too. My second set will be much nicer.

power up thru the swash ?

Hi:
Have any of you guys thought of passing the power for the LED's up through the swash ? One lead via the shaft and one via the swash plate ? I don't think that passing 10 to 20 mAH through the swash plate bearings would cause pitting ?

I dont know about passing current through the moving parts it could cause bad glitches and also cause flickering of the LEDs

Check out my gallery... I have had much success running a connection through the swash...

I dealt with a glitch or two throughout the setup process, but my last flights have all been completely normal....

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

How do you keep the pos and neg currents seperated? I guess I dont see how it would work . My biggest worry for me doing that is I have a full aluminum rotor head and I would have current running all over the place then.

The negative current runs through the center shaft, and is seperated from the swash. The newest swashes work best with the plastic ring around the center ball.... the other connection goes through the bearing on the swash to the bottom side, after that its fairly easy by keeping shrink on the wires....

I finally got my dual LED blades made and did the first flights on em. they are working really well like the original set I made. the one difference I made was I used a lighter shrink wrap on em and it makes the cyclic a bit more responsive and also getting better flight time and less loading. So all in all I acheived a more visible rotor disc with a less load.

After doing a little research I read where a guy whose name I cant remember made some night blades out of some LED flashlights. I did some checking on the parts used in the make and come up with a way to save weight. I am currently using 2032 cells on my baldes which are 3 volt lithium. I seen where someone mentioned the weight of the cells. So I searched on ebay and found 2016 cells they are half the thickness and half the weight and best of all can be used in the same cell holders I already have. One of the nice things also is I can use higher voltage LEDs and multiple LEDS in differet colors by using 2 of the 2016 cells stacked in the same cell holder to get 6 volts. The only downfall with the 2016s is they are lower capacity than the 2032 so life of cells are substancially shorter. So you can choose either more weight longer life or less weight and better blade response. Lastly more weight more LEDs brighter LEDs and lots of ooooohhhs and aaaahhhs at the field.
