I made a set of night blades out of a set of 315 woodies. It took about 4 hours to make em. so far they are holding togetherat 2500 RPM on the head.
Here is a link to a small vid I made of it
http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.ph...ccf78730fdc716d

If someone wants to see some pics of the blades off the heli send me a PM and I will send ya some
Thanks
Jason

sorry about the train noise I live ablock from the tracks gets annoying at night.

The Glow wire kit is from http://www.glowire.com it is a new kit he is making for micro electrics it is very thin wire, very bright and nice and light. Best of all it runs off your extra receiver channel. here is the link to the light kit http://www.glowire.com/Merchant2/me...Category_Code=H

Night flying does seem a bit easier now that the rotor is lit up. It was pretty hard before I got the blades made. it does seem a bit easier to distinguish cyclic inputs and really hard to get disoriented with the different color glow wire.

Havent hadthe cops called on me yet. I am fortuanate enough to have a 2 acre field in town here in front of my house for me to fly in. bad part is it is surrounded by houses
.
smittey the leds are on the ends of the blades. when they seem to disapper on the vid they really didn't I bought high output LEDS and it is actually poor camera reception.

rstacy send me a pm with your email addres and I will email you some pics I ttok while building the blades. I found all the stuff to make em on ebay. Large quantity is the cheapest way to buy.
Hope I got all your questions answered any more let me know

I have a few packs on the blades now. It has been way to windy for testing lately. So far holding up very well. put them throught there paces tonight with alot of tic tocs and a few funnels just to get the blades rapping really good to test strength. I did cover them in 2 inch shrink wrap film and it increased the span wise strength alot. Track better and transition faster. I edited the video in the first post a little made it alot smaller for downloading it is only 7 mbs now for you dial up users who would like to see it.
Thanks For looking

Nice little project.

You got close-ups of how you get the lights mounted onto the blades?

Here's mine. Pretty ghetto setup, but I crash too much to waste too much time on them.

Rotarypower3,
Thank you very much for that link! That is exactly what I am looking for.

I have several sets of the wooden blades. I guess all I need are the electrical parts to try this out.

Thanks again,
Joe

What about wire wrapping wire (i.e. Radio Shack)
I just had an idea..

What if we use the thin wire wrapping wire sold in Radio Shack. It is cheap, resistent and easy to work with.

If using the Wood blades, we could actually insert the wire inside the blade covering from one end, and try to 'fish' it out of the other end. Then we will have almost 0 effect on the blades and still have wiring...

..invisible.. !!

Maybe I will try that and let you know..

I am working on a dual LED setup now should have em done here in a day or so. I am using the same style of LEDs and same install method by putting a led in the leading edge of the blade but set far enought in to not affect airfoil. I will be covering them in the 2 inch clear shrink wrap so I can completely cover the mid mounted LED and have it still be visible. Will post pics when I get em done. As soon as nature lets up on the wind a little I will get a video of them in flight.
Thanks for looking

Awesome night blades..

I like building, but I rather buy em.. The blades are kinda a thing that require good balance.

Align if you are listening, build some 325 nigth blades please... Dual LEDs

Surprisingly with mine the COG's were perfect and I only required 2 small pieces of tap to balance.
