I would be curious as to how much your Lipo weights alone. I use TP2100 pro lights.

I feel this is an excellent idea also. I used a triple beam scale to weigh mine. If I could post pix I would prove it. But I can only post on mondays.

Anyone want to post it for me?

Okay, I took some time to trim some fat off my T-Rex and managed to get rid of about 22g which is really close to the 24g calculated in the post above. The rest of the added weight is going to be harder to remove without changing of major components. My current AUW with TP2100 Prolites is 710g. This is with 335mm Align woodies.

It looks like a lot of the weight is coming from the 28/29g canopy but I kinda like the original canopy so I'll be keeping that. My other heavy component is the JR649S PCM receiver at 28g (may have to remove the casing), I trimmed a good bit of the GY401 cabling (3.5g less now) and really can't see any other easy way to reduce the weight further. Open to suggestions though.

AUW was 727g
CDE, bling head, Align 2000mAh 18C packs, GY401, 450TH, Align 35A ESC, 3 x HS56, 1 x HDS877, JR R770

Went to the Align CF frame, PQ 1800mAh 16C packs and lost the boom support and horizontal fin.

new AUW 678g.

Be careful as removing the boom support can cause tail wag – or at least may cause you to have to reduce the gyro gain.

That's a major savings in battery weight - from around 180g to 126g or so, just from the batteries alone. Somehow I feel that the boom supports help make the tail more sturdy. I don't know about taking them off personally but quite a number of people fly without them. I have wondered about the horizontal fin though... wonder if it contributes anything aerodynamically?

Batts were 165g down to 144g, so the rest of the 49g savings was from the CF frame and the boom supports/horiz fin.

Removing the boom supports didn't cause a wag on my machine, but it would wiggle after hard stops, so the supports are back on with a trimmed horizontal fin.
