I have some servo driven gears I got from ServoCity but I keep seeing gears on here that people are using for thier pan and tilt setups that are much thicker than the ServoCity gears.

If anyone knows where these bigger gears are coming from I would appreciate the web address(es).

Thanks

KAPshop?

http://www.kapshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=87

they are in the UK, but I ordered an endless Servo + Gearset and got the stuff within 10 days.

I don't know where they get their gearsets from though.

also- try poking around SmallParts.com:
http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/gd.cfm

don't know if these are the same as the ServoCity gears or not.

Big catalog

http://www.sdp-si.com/

These guys pretty much have anything and everything you could ever ask for.
Just be warned the paper catalogs are heavy.

No Kidding

My wife is telling me I have already spent too much time just looking around the site. ServoCity makes it easy but I want some "fatter" gears so I am going to keep looking through the site.

Lots and lots of options.

Just a word of advice (I have probably spent a few 1000 there in the last year for prototyping) make sure you check any gears you get on a balancer, I have had to send several back because the hubs or center holes weren't straight...

Otherwise they have pretty good product and reasonable cust service...

For examples see my gallery.

Hey guys,

Many of my gear/pulley needs have been solved by digging into an old VCR. There is a wealth of parts in these machines. Just be sure you get an ok from the Wife first. You never know what she might be "saving it" for.

Happy prospecting!

Yeah I did the old VCR tear down a while back on my first home brew mount. Didn't find what I wanted. Maybe I won't ever find exactly what I want but I'll either get close or compromise somewhere.

Thanks for the links and info.

Definitely check SDP/SI, see my above post for caution but they do have just about everything. I got inside word that a number of our manufacturers (I won't mention a popular american maker of nitro and electric heli's based in Florida) uses their stuff in a new kit that rhymes with scion...

I just bought some sets of gears from http://www.allelectronics.com

Do a search for gears..... it's part # GR-5 that you are looking for....

Hope this helps!
