Just need a little re-assurance about my engine setup. My hyper is now about 8 tanks old, it's running with 20% magnum here in UK and has std TT muffler.

Have had some trouble finding where the needles appear to be best, today around 20degC air temp. My main needle is now around 1 1/4 turns open, and the idle screw is leaned to just past 1 o'clock if factory is 12.00 o'clock. Is this somewhere near what you guys have found?

If I richen the low then she is hard to start, but if I richen the high she dies at around 1/3 throttle, so I guess I'm looking for a little re-assurance I'm somewhere near, she is pulling around 1800 rpm in hover at about 45% throttle, tickover is 9% throttle.

Regards,

David

Hi V58,

Mine wouldn't idle either until I eventually leaned the low end needle a little like you did. It now runs much better (only did it yesterday), and the bottom plate is still cool at about 1.5 out on the main, so probably still need to lean that a little. So hopefully you're on the right track, as otherwise I'm doing the wrong thing too

Dolf,

What fuel and muffler are you using? With the low needle at factory setting I was getting fuel locking and engine cut-out when warm. Pinch test now seems to be about right, if a little rich still. I think my main could do with leaning a little, but will continue where it is for now.
Is anybody running there main needle near 1 turn on 15-20% nitro?

Thanks guys, being only heli flyer at the club I sometimes rely on a little re-assurance from RR.

One last question, have any of you experienced the leaning effect at the end of the main tank? and have any of you done the uniflow mod?
