I have been told that you can make the HB v1 much more stabel by putting some flat bottom woodies on it. Where can I purchase these?

Try LIKE90 they make them!. You will need a brushless motor since the brushed motor won't have enough head speed for it to fly with these blades. The higher head speed is really what makes these small helicopters more stable!.

If it isn't beating the air up it isn't flying

I used Like-90s on my Piccolo and they do make it more stable due to running a higher head speed and heavier blades (so more gyroscopic effect). They're much better for outdoor flying than the stock Piccolo blades. On my Piccolo I just went to the next size pinion (adding 1 tooth) and kept the same brushed motor.

I see no reason why this would't work on a HB too- they're quite similar!

I highly recommend the Kyosho M24 caliber white plastic main blades these blades not only give a good hover but very durable.
