A guy named Christopher J here on the forum should be a carsales person.

In our local club, two members (me being the 2nd) have purchased SUV's to support our hobby. Whereas, we didn't have the real need to own one prior to owning these helicopters.

The other local guy, Tre, purchased a Toyota Landcruiser. He has a few helicopters, and just got another one: Vario EC-135 Nitro.

I just purchased a new vehicle too, a 2003 Dodge Durango SLT PLUS. I had been sporting my little raptor around in my normal cars, but since I also purchased a Vario EC-135 (gasser), I needed some way to take the toy to field.

(more pictures here: http://www.midamericaminiheli.org/i...go/durango.html)

Anyone else have to do something simular?

Huh? I can fit a BVM Bobcat turbine jet in the back of my eagle talon sports car... what do you need an SUV for?

I have a Toyota Tundra with a bed cover. No problems with the Raptor 50's, But a 90 has to lay on it's side with the blades removed. I like it because it can be locked and noisy heli crooks can't see what's in there.

My work is 87 miles from my home. I commute via a cheap Kia Spectra. There is now way a completed version of this:

Would fit in that car.

The other car my wife puts around in is a Volvo 850. Nice safe car, but again, even with the seats folded down & the large trunk room; it would not fit either.

Hey Red,
Just strap that thing to the roof of the Kia, fire up the heli, sit in the Kia with the TX.... and well you get the idea

Bllade-

Haha. Easy way to commute to work huh? Just get an extension line to tap into the Kia's gas-tank and whalla. No more traffic worries. The bad thing about this EC-135, is it is nearly 1/2 the length of the car.

I bought a 2003 Dodge Durango SLT PLUS GT 2+2 MX V2 SS Z69 with wheels that don't turn 'til long after you've left & don't stop turning 'til long after you get there,,,,,,,, but I didn't have enough money left to buy a digital camera.

Have you considered a small trailer? Eventually you're going to have to take it somewhere to fly it unless you have one hell of a back yard!

I have resisted the "show us how you transport your heli" threads until now. This one is too good to pass up. Yes I bought this just to get to heli shows and tour the fun fly's

Custom made interior and a matching trailer sets me back $1.75M. Well if you are going to do it, you might as well do it properly eh?

Hard to top that one, It's so big that there's hardly enough room to post a reply. Do you rent out rooms at your fun flys?

Damn Peter!

My father and I wanted to get a pusher. That is a very nice one. Send me a PM with more pictures.

I knew I wasn't crazy, and other people purchased vehicles with the primary intent of getting the helicopter to and from the field / events. Well, maybe I am crazy, but not alone!

I fly 2 Raptor 90s out of a Scion XB and a Toyota Matrix XRS and still have room for Kendra's (2yrs old) car seat.

Most of the time I throw in a Blade CP and a 1/8th scale nirto truck too.

Since these pictures, I have moved the car seat to the drivers side so I can fold down the bigger half of the back seat and the 2 90's sit side by side. I don't even have to move the front passengers seat forward.

BTW, I might have to move the seat up to get your fuse in there?

Here's the XRS,

It's all in space managment!

I've said it before...

Peter, you're my hero, that's all there is it it.

What I want to know is, do you drive it yourself? I'll bet you enjoy it.

I'd love to have one of those... With a 6-speed auto and a humongous turbo pumping up 6 mongo cylinders with at least 15 pounds of boost!

Ah, to spoil oneself...

Gigi

My heli spending has gone way down since I got a Honda 919 :-)

Dang! Peter Whales, that's bigger than the current trailer I'm living in. Looks awsome, and love the paint job though.

I commute about 75 miles one-way in LA traffic in a Civic Hybrid (haha! 45MPG and solo in the carpool lane! )

Anywho - I wasn't going to be able to stick 2 50's 2 90's and a 1/4 scale plane in the civic - now was I?

So - when a friend was sellinghis old van I snapped it up and got a killer deal on a very functional van!
