Folks:
I have an Eolo with the following:
Brushless Aveox 27/39/1.5.
Kontronik Jazz 40-6-18
6c1p Lipo, 2200 mah, 22.2v pack

This is my first electric and I today I got her up in the air after battling some glitching which was solved by going PCM,. Other than messing around with my 401 and putting some expo into the cyclic and elevator she flew really nice and no a hint of tail vibrations…(Lucky me right)

My question is how hot is this motor suppose to run? I understand that I was going full RPM and back down to zero but it still seemed pretty hot, I purchased this machine used and it came with cooling fins for the motor which are installed. How hot is hot I cannot say because I don't have a temp gauge on her but still it was hot enough for me to say wow. How can I tell if I am overheating the motor before I fry it?

I cannot wait till I get comfortable with this thing,,, it seems like a blast and has some power too..

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks in advance.

That motor runs very hot when just hovering. You need to fly it hard or risk burning it up.

If your in Germany getting a Hacker c40-14L or c40-13L will probably be easy. These are great motors for the Eolo on 6s. The 13L will have a higher headspeed good for aerobatics.

My Aveox, or should I say my 3 Aveox's, all where destroyed by over heating. This was with ample cooling holes in the canopy, and a minimum of hovering.

The Hackers are much more efficient and run very cool.

Good Luck

Either get a Twist 33 or Hacker, once your Aveox demagnetises.

Edge rotorblades, Scorpion systems

Sorry I thought the 27/39/1.5 did OK if you flew it hard enough Hard to believe I was told not to waste the time with my smaller Aveox 27/26/2 and I have no problems with it at all, and nearly as much power as the bigger one
