Well, I received the new Duzi tail grip assembly and here are my opinions {Remeber, opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one).

When I opened the package, I was surprised at the MINUTE stature of the new tail grip unit (the actual grips are only 75% of the size of the Align units). Currently, this grip unit will only work with the stock tail case (a little bit of a disapointment). Now, back to the evaluation.

Since I have an aftermarket tail case on my rex, I assembled the tail grip assembly using a stock tail case and a spare tail shaft. The tail pitch slider is well designed, providing a zero slop unit that moves exceptionally easy on the tail shaft (Kudos Duzi). This was the best designed part of the unit. The grip/hub assembly was a different story. The mounting of the hub to the grips is not a very sturdy assembly ..... ANY impact of the tail blade WILL break the grips assembly, and since there are no spares available yet for this assembly, it will be time to shell out another $120. The bearings are a high quality, and are exceptionally smooth, although a lot of lateral endplay is present. If Duzi redesigned the grip.hub assembly a little to increase it's structureal strength, they would have a TRUE WINNER.

The travel of the pitch slider is another concern, Binding is present anytime travel approaches the limits. With limited travel available on the stock assembly, this is bad. Also, due to the increased blade pitch, most gyros will be unhappy with this tail pich assembly. Minut changes in the pitch lever results in a great change in the pitch of the tail blades. I can just imagine the kaos with carbon tail blades installed !

Overall, I think that Duzi has gone in the right direction, but has stopped short of the finish line. Additionally, I would not recommend that you go out and purchase this upgrade as it probally will cause hair loss (as you pull it out trying to find the new tail issues). Give Duzi a little longer to work the bugs out (I understand that they are doing this as we speak).
