Hi folks , time has come for a teardown and inspection of my Hawk Sport .While I was at it , thought I would update her a bit .

I plan on getting the 120 CCPM conversion . I am just wondering about upgrading the tail from the wire drive to the torque tube drive . Is it worth it ? If so what besides the torque do I need ? Do I need to change the crown gears or any thing else ?

I changed out to a TT and noticed a difference, I would reccomend it. The tail seems more locked in now. Just get the conversion kit, it replaces the wire and the end pieces that attach to the wire.

yeea I agree, the wire does have more drag in that brass tube, the TT does free up a little bit of power, there is a noticeable different's in the 2,,, make sure you buy the complete torque tube drive kit so you get the drive cups..

Get the TT

I also noticed a significant difference between the wire drive and torque tube. That was, however, once I was able to take adantage of it (i.e. bacwards and sideways flight). For those in the early stages of learning to hover, I stand by the wire drive as the ideal tail drive -- if only for the reason that it is more forgiving in a crash and when you do have to replace it, it is dirt cheap.
