i just got a new 50 hyper, and if i hold the engine vertical, like it would be in the heli, and turn it over by hand, the con rod slides back and jams against the lip in the case. is it normal for it to have this much play? i can also move the crank in and out about 1mm

do you have the clutch installed yet? If not then thats your problem there should be no endplay when the clutch is bolted on.

There will be some play. With the back plate on there will also be some (slight) rubbing. Both Hypers that I have rub a little on the back plate.

Mine will do the same thing with the back plate off.

The crank movement doesn't seem to be correct. Double check to make sure you have the correct washer/nut/fan combination/order.

Make sure there is no washer between the frunt bearing and the fan as it will rub on clutch bell and cause damage.
