hi guys. i bought a gsmart mini3 digi-cam for my t-rex. the cam got a lil fix from a guy at frauenhofer institute so i can control it by my transmitter.... i also have slight interferences like you guys that are expereimenting with the cvs-cam, especially when taking photos. but viedeo is quite good. quality not quite as good as with the cvs, but pretty small avi-files... the file you can download is converted to mpg, thats why it has 31 mb. get it at the link below....
get it quick, i have to keep an eye on traffic... and please download it, before viewing.

and yes, i know: i shouldnt fly over the kids, i should tell them that they are in potential life-danger, and so on.... i will tell them next time, i promise....they will hate me for this.

best regards,

manhill

tmaster, balance is not a problem. the cams weight is just 40 grams, total system-weight with cable and cam-holder might be 55 grams. sure, the chopper is a lil nose-heavy, and you have to give a lil left roll-trim, but still is excellent controllable. i am not doing any 3d,but i think the cam-system would be a handicap for doing 3d-maneuvers.
biggest problem so far: these high-frequent shutter-time/vibration interferences, which make pictures of the world from above "snake-like" as you see below......but on the other side, i kinda like it, the houses seem to dance.......

best regards,

manhill

hee hee, dance house dance!! yeah, same problem with the CVS cam, it goes away a little using a ferrite ring, but I have heard its both motor noise, and the strobe effect coming from the blades... ie: it gets worse on a sunny day....

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

ozydego, i dont think the problem is caused by disturbing radio-frequencies, i also dont think its a strobe-effect... i think its caused by a very high-frequent vibrating camara. i think trying to get the camera shock-absorbed is the way to go. but as usual, i might be totally wrong....

Lowflyer, I dunno about using channel 5, have you tested servos connected directly to the channel, because I was under the impression that the channel on an optic 6, (which I have) only sends gain information, not servo commands.... try it real quick, plug a servo in and see if you can get a response.... I am still very skeptical at this point though... I have been rethinking my decision to buy a 6 channel over a 7 ever since I got this heli....

Real, We do think that a lot of it is interference, not so much vibration, as I personally have tried several dampening methods including reciever foam, you know, the stuff to keep the crystal from being damaged due to vibes... Try changing your headspeed to see if it goes away, but again, you could be right, as the high frequency vibrations change with headspeed as well.... hehe The foam had very little effect on the shaky cam, but I did notice an improvement, so I think its a combination of all three

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....
