Hello, was hoping someone could help me. Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity on my radio kinda like steering rate on electric rc cars? My Eclipse 7 is so sensitive that i can't fly in a small radius. I want it to fly like it does in the simulators or like my Piccolo Pro flew with this crappy Laser 6 radio i had. Any ideas?

Read up on EXPO in the manual. EXPO allows you to de-sensitize small stick movements, yet you have full throw on big stick movements.
Me, I run with 50% EXPO on the elevator and aileron channels.

Sweet. Thanks. I get so confused in the Eclipse instructions. Took me long enough just to program the model name into it.

I know what you mean. The Eclipse 7 allows you to control so many things, it's hard to separate out what you need from what you can do. Fortunately, the default settings (settings in effect if you do not change them) fit into the category of "no effect" which is nice if you don't know what they do.

Hey again. Ummm, i'm a newbie pilot but i understand how to fly and i have good cordination, it's just that like i said my sensitivity is way too high. I've been reading and shouldn't i just turn EXP off and adjust the linear throw or whatever it is. I don't want the heli to be responsive at all. I want to be able to move the stick half way in a direction and get a slow slight bank. Last time the heli was a good distance from me and was going away towards the neighbor's house, i banked it towards me and i was so nervous and ended up inverting from the smallest smallest amount of stick movement. I want my controller set up like you were going to hand it to a 12 year old. I want the heli to fly like the heli's i fly on my pc with the joystick in the game Battlefield 2. And from there, i will slowly increase the speed as my brain allows. Get back with me and tell me if i'm making sense. Thanks a lot.

All right, I got it wrong. I use minus 50% EXP on pitch and roll. Check out page 20 of the manual. Positive EXP makes the stick more sensitive. You want negative EXP.

Sorry about that.

Wisdom Seeker...

What radio do you have? Futaba is the reverse of a JR radio on EXPO settings.

Later...

Hitec Eclipse 7. It's compatible with Futaba not the JR. My friend that isn't a heli guy but a technical kinda guy said that there is another setting i should adjust and leave EXP off completely. I'm new to programmable radios, sorry, I had my buddy from Helihobby.com program the radio for me. I think he programmed it for more advanced people except i told him i didn't want to be able to have negative collective for inverted and such.

You received some poor advice. Even the very best pilots in the world use the EXPO function. As suggested, do pay close attention to the "sign" of the expo if your radio gives you a choice, or you'll make matters worse instead of better.

That "other" feature was likely dual rate or AFR. You use that function to set the maximum control authority you'd like the model to have, then use the expo to make it feel nice around center stick for small, precise inputs.

Yeah, i found out there are 3 rate adjustment settings on an Eclipse 7. I guess i will just slowly change one after another trying to get my stick the way i want. I have the Reflex XTR simulator but haven't installed it yet. I'm hoping i can use it to get a good idea of what i want my settings to be before i try it with my t-rex. Thanks for everyone's advice. I finally downloaded the instruction book and noticed that i need to read the airplane settings too.
