How is the performance of the TJ pro using a 9252?
Has anyone tried this in DS mode? I wonder if it will kill the servo in time. Is it worth buying a 9254?

Thanks!

Throttle Jockey Pro

TrexGoat,

I run Throttle Jockey Pro's in all my machines (2 V1/50 Raptors and (1) V2/50 Raptor) and use a 9252 on the throttle in the Digital Servo Mode.

I have ran the (2) V1/50 Raptors in this configuration for well over a year and they still perform great.

I had read that some are running the 9253's and 9254's but can't comment on that as I have not tried that combination. I am sure others will be glad to tell you how that combination works.

Hope this was of some help.

Digital Servo Mode

Person,

I called Model Avionics and asked them about the 9252 and they assured me that it met the requirements for DS use with their product.

Of course the faster the better, so the 9253, 9254 or other fast digital servos would be even better. I used the 9252 because that is what I had available at the time.

HelicopterJohn ,

Can you tell me who you spoke with at MA ?? I heard that the company has changed hands and that Mr. Beard is no longer associated with the company ??

Also, did you call the number on the web site ?

TJ pro are programed for high frame rate digital servo like, 9253, 9254 or 810G. It can be also set up for non ds servo. TJ pro likes ds servos and it work really well, very consist!

I really wouldn't recommend using the 810G. It has so much play (non centering) that its useless at accurately setting the throttle for starting.
I tried several and they were all crap.

I've used a TJ Pro with a 9254 (in a Fury Extreme) and a JR531 (in a Hawk Sport). The 531 is a slower analog servo (.23).

Both servos worked just fine in their applications. While it's obvious that a faster servo provides a faster response, I'm not convinced that it's a big difference. I'd guess a better pilot would notice something.

Having a governor is so much better than not having a governor, that the choice of a faster servo is barely 5% of the joy.

The 9252 will work brilliantly.

Thanks everyone for your input! I will use the 9252 that I have installed and see what happens. One last question! Should this be configured in DS mode or regular mode? If in DS mode any ideas how long it will take to possibly burn up...

Thanks again!!!

Model Avonics Contact

JuanRodriguez,

It was some time ago and Mr. Beard was the person I got the information from. I e-mailed him and he gave me the information I requested.

TrexGoat,

What makes you think that running the Throttle Jockey Pro with a 9252 in DS mode will burn it up? I have been running that configuration on both of my Raptor 50 V1's for over a year with no issues.

I carried out a little test on this,
The TJ rev max works fine with a 3001, and thats a slow servo,
By this I mean during 3d flight the head speed is controlled and from what I can hear anyway the servo is managing to maintain my set headspeed.there is some slight +-, not much ,I was happy with the performance using this servo, and thats as bad as it will ever be,

I have tried a 9254 as well, one extreme to the other, got to be honest here I did not notice a big difference, if there was one it wasnt much and I dont think it improved my flying .Also when using digital sevo mode and normal there wasnt a huge difference, Its really hard to hear the change,

If you use the 9254 and its on DS mode thats it, fit and fly, there aint anything you could do to make it better,

With a gyro you NEED the fast sevo , its a must , try using a 3001 on the tail , no use at all,

Other governors might be different,

I am still using the 3001,

I was thinking about this the other day. I can't really see the advantage of using a High Speed digital servo on the throttle. I can't imagine the engine response time is .06 seconds or less.
I haven't measured the response time, but I feel that it is realistically .2 or slightly more.

Is that a 6s 5000 in your pocket,
or are you just happy to see me?

I found the reason to use a fast servo on throttle!!!!
Its called 94758Z's lol.... My collective could so kick my throttles response time.. So when I jab the collective the engine is playing catch up.. I switched to 9254's (thanks for the sale HP) and it made a big difference in my throttles ability to keep up with my poor collective management. I used to get a whaa whaaa whaaa cycling in the engine sound when attempting fast tic tocs... now its all blade noise and the engine is always right there.

Do I think you need a 9254 or a digital servo? No... They were just on sale at HP, but I think there is great benefit from a FAST server digital or not..
