Are any of you here commercial pilots?
I am getting out of the military after all, and am trying to go to flight school. These deployments are rough and I want better. I am wanting to do rotary, but will take fixed wing. Any suggestions or help info would be helpfull.
This is a big leap for me.

The industry is at an all time low right now. Rotory is even tougher due to high training cost and low salaries that most all companies are offering. We discussed this very thing a couple of days ago here .
If your already rated in the military that's a bonus becuase all you have to do is change your license out and get an ATP to go with it which could cost anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 bucks. If your not rated all I can say is pull out the wallet.

From my limited experience (6 years professional flying), it's a good job but a bad career. Commercial flying is an exercise in how long you are willing to live in poverty in hopes of a payoff.

FlyFalcons, that's the best way I've ever heard it put, it's exactly correct. Great job, bad career. I'm in total agreement.

I second that. This is the only carrier I lay awake at night worried about feeding my family. Sad.

.
In aviation, the best license you can have is your Real Estate license!

Check the data, over 10K pilots on furlough.

.

Flying helis since gyros had springs.

Warning!! Raptor Pilot’s…

A nice afternoon flight almost ends in a tragedy!!
I was flying my Raptor 50 v2 yesterday, I was flipping 10 meters away from my
1 meter of the ground and in a second I lost the tail control, I didn’t have in of time to handle the situation and the heli went directly to some people, the only ting a cud do is to put the throttle hold to try to control the heli,
It crash no more than 20 centimeters from a friend!!!!!

After 10 minutes sitting and taking about the lucky we was, I starting looking for the reason of the tail failure…..
- Batteries OK. 7.20 volts with 1 amp load.
- Mechanics OK everything was in plaice.
- Gyro 401 looks good.

And finally find the problem; the tail pulley teeth worn down, in odder words no more traction for the tail blades.

So I rely recommend to open the tail cease and have a look to the tail pulley wornness’

I Hate there was soo much negativity in the responses but it's better to find out first before spending the cash. It may all turn around but probably wont happen in my lifetime.
