Hi guys , my heli came with hongkong instructions , ive got the yellow wire in channel and set up as normal.
Is this gyro like the gy401 ,where you switch channel 5 before powering up to change gyro modes ??
Currently the blue set up light is on ?? is this in headholding mode ??
When the gyro is in normal mode what happens with the light ??

Cheers Steven

If your gain channel is in the upper 50%, then you are in HH mode. If the gain channel is in the lower 50%, you are in rate mode. If you used the dial, then you are in HH mode.

If CH-5 (yellow) is connected, then the gain setting pot on the gyro is ignored.

The blue light means that it has initialized, regardless of mode.

Oh right , then I will disconnect it right now as im currently moving the gyro to different locations around my heli as its wagging all the time , may be because its set high on my tranny , I would rather adjust it manually .

Cheers Steven

Isn't it true that the gyro is always in HH mode if the remote gain is disconnected and the gain pot only affects that?

Mike,

If you disconnect the yellow wire, doesn't the gain pot then have control with <50 being yaw rate and >50 being HH? (by 50, I mean percentage of pot travel, or 50 = midpoint.)

I dissconected it and managed to get her hovering half ok , then the motor pinion came loose .
I still cant get to grips with this tail , for it to keep straight its needs to have more left input than right , because of the rotor torque does it make a difference which motor pinion I use ??
Im also not going to test this any more in my gargen , its to much of a handfull , need a big area to get her up and clear of every thing .

Rate mode is only available through the remote gain lead ..... when the remote gain is disconnected, only HH mode is available (I have 4 of these gyros)

Mike,

Thanks for the info.

Until now I have been under the impression that as the gain increased from 0 to 100, ( either by pot or transmitter control) that the mode did a gradual transition from yaw to HH.

So this means that if I use channel-5 for auto-pilot control instead of gyro, then I won't be able to use the gyro yaw mode?

OK Mike.

I just shortened up "Yaw Rate" to yaw.

That's what most people do, is connect the yellow wire to channel 5 and use the gear switch on your TX to change gyro modes.

Keep in mind my TX is different from yours, but for instance, with my TX gear switch flipped down, I set my ATV (gain) to around 40 (Rate mode). With it up, I set it for for around 60 (HH mode). Your settings will probably vary.

Sorry to sound dull , I did not realise I could alter the gain in the tranny settings , I just thought it was to switch between normal gyro mode and HH mode like I do with my FF6 and GY401 which works very well on my rappy .90.
I will try your settings over the weekend , cheers Steven

When the yellow lead is hooked-up, the gain pot on the gyro is disabled. On a JR radio, any gain setting greater than 50% will be in HH mode, any gain setting below 50% will be in rate mode.
