I got to fly a Blade CP on Sunday, and I have to say, I was impressed. I went to my local field to beat up my favorite .50, and there were a couple of guys there with a Blade they just bought. They asked me for help, they couldn't get it started. Well, I turned the throttle trim down, the system armed, and away I went. It was a bit windy, but the Blade handled it well. I went to hand it over, but they wanted to watch me fly.

Long story short, for what it costs, this is one killer little heli. I had a Hirobo XRB SR, paid a lot more money for it, and it is cool, but I sent it in for repair, and never got it back. I think I will replace it with a Blade. My LHS has them for $193, how can I go wrong?

Wow, the ground was closer than I thought.

have to agree, can't beat it!. micro-helis sure have come a long way. bought a bladecp sunday, flew it yesterday, right out of the box. in it's stock configuration, i expect it will be a reliable little machine. lost everything in hurricane katrina, and for now this gets me back in the air.

ama157087,

Sorry to hear of your loss.

If you think it flys great in stock form, wait till you slide the weights in on the flybar, add the enhancement kit and put on a set of CF blades. It's so much smoother!

Well, got my Blade on friday, and having a blast. I most likely will just leave it stock, I have a Shogun for the 3D cravings. This will be just for pooting around, and practicing slow, controlled piros. Mabey when I burn out the tail motor, I might put in the GWS EDF motor I was using on the tail of my Hummingbird, but other than that, she will stay the way she is. I have had enough of dropping money into helis. I have one expensive Shogun. It has so many aftermarket doo dads on it, I can hardly call it a Shogun. Sooner or later, you have to put it to rest.

This is not to swipe at anyone who likes to upgrade. If you like it, by all means do it. But, for me, the reason I liked the Blade is it flew well right out of the box. In fact, for the price, it flys great.

Wow, the ground was closer than I thought.

Being a noob, it seems heli guys suffer from bling-bling-itis far more than the foamy 3d guys. It seems to me, if you get most of the decently designed heli's, they all could use one or two "important" upgrade mods, but the rest is more for show than performance gains.

I keep hearing, what the Blade does, it does well. If you want basic flying and a little aerobatics in a micro, its a well thought-out package. Want more? Probably a better idea to start with something else, like a Hornet X3d or Maxir (on the lighter side), or Trex (on the bigger and heavier side). Not a knock against the Blade, just an understanding that Horizon positioned the Blade in a perfect position in the marketplace for your average flier. Good job.

So true johnny. I was tempted to convert my Blade to brushless with separate ESC's for the main & tail motors and throw a GY-240 in it, but reality set in and I came up with the conclusion that this is just a $200 heli and I'm not going to soak $500 into it. It is what it is, and flies very well for my $200

One mod

chuckhager is using his Eclipse 7 with the Blade, and I will be using my Futaba 8UHFSuper when I get the crystal from lhs and when I get the Blade back from the factory (bad crash due to glitching, will see how they treat it). Either I get a new one, mine rebuilt, or mine returned wrecked with new radio gear. In any case, the Blade will fly again at my house, with no mods other than switching crystal and programming my own radio to fly it. I also plan to get another complete Blade kit, aero upgrade, LiPo's, charger, etc, and use one with NiMH in stock form for training (myself and kids someday), and the other with LiPo's for 3D training.
