Well i stuffed it again. I must be getting better at flying because the damage was higher . They say the better you get the harder you go in. Not sure what i did wrong, i know i had lost it good just a minute before. Had it upside down with pos pitch then gave it full neg to bring back up, I've been wanting to do that move but on purpose. I could see the bright side of the machine and the tail fin. I've thought it over a few times and i think it was tilted about 45 degrees and side on to me. Made a good dent in the grass.. LOL . Need to re-build and move on as these things will crash one way or another. I've been thinking of going to the heliworks frame and a HV ,6cell setup for a few weeks now. This may be a hint
Will give me a chance to go over the machine and make sure it's correct before selling.

Parts at a glance :

- mainshaft and spindle (assume)
- blades
- T block
- frame repair
- skids
- washout arm
- flybar if i cant straighten
- maingear.

Here's some pics :

Well if going in harder means you are getting better then I must be getting a whole bunch better. Took my Hawk Pro in on the weekend, it "somehow" got inverted and went in pretty bad. Looks like I need to order a new one.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

wow.... I had the first crash on my trex a few days ago. Not that bad I was only like 15-20 feet up and all i broke were the landing struts, blades and bent the main shaft, flying over a field. No concrete crashes! heh

Still glad it's the t-rex and not my raptor 50.

I've been doing quite well. I've gone in 3 times so far this season. I'm not an aggressive flyer ($$$) but i have been pushing the envelope a little. On the bright side i'm getting used to seeing her upside down. I had a good save before this happened. Would have been a head first deal.

I hope to get her back up and running buy the weekend or sooner. A little tinkering tonight and some more tommrorow should fix it.

I haven't tryed to take out a tree ... i think i'll just take your word for it

Those blades are no match for trees. I need a chain saw to win.

gifted ...

The decals are a monocote trim sheet (airplane stuff - a good stocked hobby shop should have them - about 5" x 36"). Just traced out the shape of the align decal and replaced it with the trim sheet. I could see the align red but the align blue was invisible to me. Stands out alot now. Huge difference between sides, helps with orientation.

Had a closer look last night ... more parts needed.

-Frame i think .. Has anyone gotten by without the nub that keeps the tailboom aligned with the frame ? Mine is sheared off.

- tail boom - crunched where the alignment tab goes

anyone out there with a AON 3500 ? I'm missing one of the screws that holds the endbell on the motor. Any idea what size they are ? How do you know if the bearings are worn ?

rcmarty,

that little nub in the frame is not too important. i wouldnt replace over that.

spin the bearing slowly, if it feels bumpy while your turning it. its no good.

hey J

bad weekend for us . we both piled on the first pack. i missed yours ,but the damage said it all.

mine was:
bent main shaft
feathering shaft
stripped one hs56
stripped belt
main gear
landind gear
canopy history
and to top it all off..... another set of mah315 carbons.

this weekend im gonna spin the S#it out of a set of woodies .
gonna run them at 3000.

what do you think JVB. think they will handle. if they do ill let sample the medusa setup.

I got to thinking i could drill a small hole and put a little stick of carbon in there. Should do the same thing.

3000 on woddies , i've heard of it done before but i.m not sure if i'd do it. I can assume your running a metal head already.

Tried taking out the armature when the bottom cap was off. That baby's got some good magnets !! I was checking to see if it needed a cleaning or not. Still looks like new in there with no buildup of anything. It has been running hotter than normal for alittle bit now. Figured maby something was up, I now think something is down -- like the pack voltage under load .

Hope to get re-building soon.

Just wondered, when you do 'em up that bad does the lipo battery survive??? On my foamy planes I can toast one quite easily on a "pavement" type crash!!!I really don't want to do in a 75$ tp 2100 lipo!!!!

I have my battery mounted differently than the stock location. In the stock location during a nose crash it can force the lipo into the motor, this makes a nice half round shape out of the end of the pack.

My packs are held in with 2 strips of velcro. Theis crash was more of a side impact rathern than a nose crash. No damage to my pack this time , last crash was a noe first from about 30 feet, canopy was toast and the pack had the ends of the 3 cells tweaked down a bit. If it were in the stock location i think it would have been far worse.
