see my second posting for an update:

This is a potential SCAM, we are trying to determine if this is real yet or not but based on the evidence that my pictures and exact description of a helicopter that I sold in April now shows up on ebay with my same pictures including the tape on the battery, well now that’s about suspicious as it gets.
I have emailed the original buyer, and clearly his name is not even close to the sellers name.

Allegations: someone in the UK took pictures off my gallery and listed a helicopter with my and I quote (MY) exact listing when I sold it

I had 2 different RR members (Willie Evans and OICU812) send me off emails asking about if this was my helicopter based on my gallery pictures. Unfortunately I did not get the RR PMs until after the eBay add had ended. I am guessing they were trying to protect themselves and other RR members from a potential scam.

here is the listing
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Item=6002883359

I will follow up with the facts as they come in, but with what has been provided (ebay listing, paypal history records, my pictures, my add to the exact words and most of all a $2500 investment only going for about $600,,,to good to be true, hopefully not one of us (RR members) got the short end of a UK stick.

If you dig into the UK and eBay, eBay suggests not to use anything other then an escrow account with dealing with the UK. Even Western Union tells people not to send cash to the UK as there are too many scams on line.

I still have the Carbon Logo 14 and since it survived both Katrina and Rita without a scratch (wish I could say that about my home) it will be in my hangar until the estate sale. Great Helicopter from a great seller.

OK this confirms that the eBay listing is a SCAM !!!!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Item=6002883359 ,

This was my helicopter and is now owned by Boyd, hence everything on the add is bull shix. This UK person used my pictures from my GALLERY and the orig

Lesson's learned
1. Trust your friends on RR, they are all watching out for these types of Scammers.
2. Never bid on an item that hides the bidders list (this prevents us from telling the bidders they are being scammed)
3. I will never buy outside the USA on eBay
4. Never make payments via Western Union to the UK
5. Watch out for this piece of ship as a seller on eBay or any other forum “ STANJENNIN”
6. Never buy from someone that does not have a 100% feedback reputation

I will provide eBay evidence of this fraud activity to terminate the account and do their best at finding out the “who did it”? This is the second SCAM that I have seen the evidence from the UK the first one was a Custom Harley Davidson that was listed out of the east coast but was in fact a stolen identity ebayer that had not used his account for many months. The seller wanted my partner to send money over Western Union, and indicated the bike was in storage in the east coast but he could make a phone call and have it shipped. After intensive research, my partner elected not to pay and got eBay involved to expose the fraudulent act.

Not sure where best to post things like this, anyone feel free to proliferate these facts:

2 emails from fellow RunRyders (Willie Evans and OICU812) gave me notice of a helicopter that looked identical to one I have in my gallery

Upon receiving the RR PMs, I sent a note to Boyd to see if he had sold this specific helicopter.
Boyd confirmed and posted on RR, the fact that he is doing OK after surviving the two Hurricanes and still maintains this helicopter.

After careful examination of the ebay add, it is apparent that the entire description including the original font was maintained from a listing in APRIL of 05. All the information on the original add was copied including some of the pictures. This suggests this person had premeditated these actions 5 months ago and because you cant see historical eBay listings, used it as an original.
Take extreme causion in purchasing any RC gear from the UK as Helicopters may only be one arena this has been exposed, it could or probably is happening in Cars, Boats and Airplanes too.

fraudulent ebay adds

What happened here is quite common on EBAY.

expensive bicycles and motorcycles are categories I routinely see numerous examples.

Every now and then one shows up in the heli section, but this is such a small community, that it usually get's caught really fast.

giveaways -

- too good to be true prices. ex - $2K starting price on $7K ZX12 in Thailand. $600 for $2800 Ti litespeed roadbike out of Germany

- generic pics of the item out of manufacturers catalogue or identical pics out of a previous auction ( like this heli situation )

- feed back shows 10 -15 recent multiple very small purchases, ( $1 - $2 each )

- feedback checks show completely unrelated items. ex - $600 auction for $2800 litespeed bike in Germany. Feedback was over 500 transactions from a French handbag online store. This Account was clearly hijacked. I've seen at least 5 auctions using hijacked accounts.
probably obtained using phishing emails.

- seller won't give you a phone number to call and ask questions on the item.

There was one guy who had at least 6 different bike auctions going on, with very similar user names, and locations in US and Germany. Clearly the same guy, based on similarities between all the verbage in his auctions

I've seen fraud auctions in US, UK, Germany and Thailand, so be carefull if you see any of the signals listed above.

.

I've bought and sold expensive guitars, helis and audio equipment in US and worldwide. I've bought and sold expensive motorcycles, helis and RC planes in the US with no problems. International vehicle purchases don't make sense due to shipping and certification costs.

Point is that you can use EBAY for some international deals where freight and certifications are not issues.
I never got stung mainly by checking for the tipoffs listed above. Don't rely on feedback numbers - look at the specific transactions to see if they're related to the product on auction.

If you're selling internationally, make them pay for insurance, tracking, and signature so they can't claim it never arrived and get paypal to refund their money ( which comes out of your account )

hope this helps

Shifter Kart Scam

Yea there are all different kinds of scams. For instance, I was bidding on a Honda 250CC shifter Kart on Ebay and I stopped bidding around $4800 Well the auction ended and I was the second highest bidder and lost. Well about 4 days later I get an email from the "SO Called Seller" for a second chance bid offer! Keep in mind I had been in touch with the original seller via phone during the original auction. So I call the guy up and asked what happened did the winning bidder back out of the deal? He said no why ? The guy sent me the money 2 days ago! Well because you just sent me a second chance offer but it did not have your email address attached. I reported the scam to Ebay. Funny thing was the guy wanted me to send the money VIA Western Union...LOL Relisting scams/ second chance bid scams are common on Ebay, That why ebay now takes the listing down right after the auction ends to stop scammers from grabbing the text and pictures and relisting the items.

Yes very insane!

I never did buy one (250CC)I got bit by the helicopter bug and never looked back, I don't miss it all that much, the amount of traveling, gas for my E350 Turbo Diesel and the fact I am starting a family all were deciding factors into my choice not to return to the track.

well you are right to be sceptical guys. I use uk ebay a lot and have come close to being scammed many times in different ways, in fact I now regalary post an ebay ad on the drums section warning about scammers.

Just one word about UK ebay [and i am not suggesting you let you guard down for one minute] but most of the scams that have tried to ctach me that seem to orginate from the UK have turned out to actually originate in places like Bulgaria, Poland and a dozen other countries outside the UK. They either hijack the account or offer second chasnce offers on good they never have even seen but all want western unuion transfers to obscure places.

so you are right to be cautious but it is not just a UK problem.

drummer

If you hit the link for View seller's other items this is what you get from the auction that you posted.
This seller is not currently offering any items for sale.

So let me get this straight. When you pay 600 pounds for a RTF heli with TX but you never receive it, you are not scammed right? Although he agrees to send it via Royal Mail/parcel Force?

I would really love to get over to this seller's place and bust his thin scull wide open!

Btw, dkourk is a good friend of mine

That sucks, with a 111 feedback and the fact he wanted local pickup i would have trusted him too, i see he's not a regged member anymore as well, doesn't your friend have his tel no/address, maybe someone on here knows him or has dealt with him before, failing that easyjet do cheap flights

Guys,

Obviously before bidding the guy agreed to post the item!!!

He even said he would post in two boxes to save on postage,

and when repeatedly then asking for tracking numbers I would get no reply.

He just liked the idea of not sending the heli and keeping the money! Simple as that!

and it goes without saying that I have offered to collect!

Ohh and I do have his full contact details and tel no if someone local would like to pursue this for me!! Or just ask him what the hell was he thinking?

He is not registered anymore since I reported him to ebay/paypal and they confirmed he did not send anything.

His name is Graham Kitchen

and his address is:

28 chapman avenue,
S****horpe,
Lincolnshire DN171PL,
United Kingdom

maybe if I can find some time I can go by and have a look,

at least I can report him at his local police station for future reference...
