Maidened it today!! Very rewarding experience to say the least.

After a couple of hours of flying helicopters this fine morning from around 10am waiting for the wind to pick up, my instructor and i packed stuff up and went mobile, around 130 or so. the cool thing about where we fly is every now and again paragliders fly off of this hill. downside, 1/4mi walk from the cars to the slope with 90% of that being like, a 30deg incline. That was painful

Took it and he told me how to throw it, and away it went. Ive got to say i was pretty nervous about throwing it off the side of this hill, it just seems so unnnatural to do so. He was flying around for 20mins or so getting used to it, working with the flaps, few loops and rolls etc. and then handed it over.

Rest is history!! I flew around for a good 45mins or so then tried a couple of landing patterns and after about 5 or 6 i got it down on the ground sucessfully. Picked it up, wiped a little dirt off and threw it back out on my own. Flew around for a while again, 20-30mins working on approaches to land thought i had a good one but got a little slow and went in, stripped a flap servo(hs125mg). by that time the sun was getting close to going down, and it was turkey time. Walked back down and rushed home to write this up

To say the least, im definately hooked. I probably wont go on the death hike up that slope again any time soon. so its time to find new feeding grounds!!

Sprite, what did you get?

I went on yesterday and flew my little EFlite Ascent electric glider. Fun little bird, only $50 from Chief Aircraft. Love sailplanes...

i ended up with a spirit elite arf.

i tried ordering that plane you and i had talked about online through art hobby, but their webpage is kinda sh!t. placed the order, it said id get an email with the total and direction to pay, but it never came. so after a week i went with the spirit elite.

pretty badass plane if i do say so myself

need to get that servo fixed, and i cant wait to get out again!!! the winds havent been cooperating recently, and that was a hell of a hike but the time i got today made it worth it.

thats not me fyi, friend/helicopter instructor HiroboEric, was the only one that got any time in considering the 25mph constant, gusting to 30-35mph winds we were getting up there.

new projects blade 1.5M & blade 2M:

working on the 1.5M first, 4 hs125mg's on the wing, 2 hs81mgs inside for fully functional V tail, went that direction instead of just an elevator. 720ma 5cell battery, and jr770 pcm rec.

edit: these are just mocked up, not assembled or ready for flight

Very cool looking birds. I went up to Kansas to fly slope last weekend. First day there was no wind. None. Second day it was blowing like crazy, 20-30kts. I would have killed for a Blade at that time. Probably a good thing I wasn't flying one, my foamie wing got ripped out of my hands by the gusts several times.

3M

I have a Pelican and a molded Psyko, both 3M models that are terrific, but it takes a serious winch to get max launch performance. Flight performance is excellent with both, but I'd give the Psyko the edge in overall performance.
