Its unlikely that the boom length has changed as the belt is still the same as ever and its this that determins the boom length. If you can flex the main blade down as touch the tail blade when they're both inline then its still possible they can hit.

OK, fair's fair.

After rotating the blades a good dozen or so times I finally got the main blade to line up with the tail blade.

Then after pushing as hard as I dared on the tip of the main blade it got 'close' to touching the tail, but I really can't see this happening during normal flight without there being some other problem that I'd be more worried about (like a serious crash!!)

So, in summary, unless your a 3D mad-man or running with marshmallow head dampers it ain't gonna happen unless other things are either breaking or about to break........

I think I won't trim down my 95's..........

Anyone got a number for Heli-widows, my wife wants to join!!

No,they won't hit just flying around.I ran them a while with no trouble. They will hit in piroflips,tic-tocs,or weird recovery moves.

Ian you might well need to do a few of these once you start flying. I speak from experience

Is it really worth the risk of your lovely new baby just for the sake of 2 minutes with a rule and a junior hacksaw. Hmm dont think so.

Trust me you wont notice any difference...

Cheers

Have you not ever heard of a mid air boom strike? How do you think main blades can reach far enough to even strike the tale boom? Do you do any hardcore 3d or even regular? Your measurements are irrelevant.

How do you accurately trim a R60's tail blade to 90mm?

I'll use the pointy ends of a caliper to scribe a line on both blades then sand them down to that line. I've only done this with props and plastic tail blades. If you do it with CF I'd hit the end with some CA and make sure you wear a mask so you don't breath the CF dust.

I just bolt the two blades together through the bolt holes, scribe a line where to cut on one and cut with a small hacksaw. Then just very gently clean up the ends with a bit of sandpaper.

Job Done.

When u guys said 95mm, is that from root to tip or from the 3mm hole to tip?

hole to tip. I think those issues were with the v2 short boom because tt600 are 606mm in lenght. If you have the titan boom, you can pretty much run anything from 85-95mm on the tail as long as you are not running 620mm main.

Thanks for your help again. I got a 92 mm this afternoon. Main blade is 600 mm so no drama.

Tail Blade theory
I would say you are possible all correct (WELL ALMOST ALL) as the post above the boom length is longer on the 50 Titan.

95mm fit on the titan with plenty of room between the mains. the only issue is they are the same length as the stock tail fin, so heavy backward landing or fast backwards take off the tail blade will trim the ground.

for the porformace difference it is worth the risk, I have the GY611 and sab X-CELL 95mm and I do not even need to enable the AVCS (headhold) to get a stable hover... carm day of corse..

Hope this resolves some of the arguments about them hitting the main blades.

Happy Flying
