Exactly ade.

What the heck went on .. I had suggested to CSM that the ones you had crap with, I would fit and try. Like I will lift the one I continue to enjoy and replace with a sus one.

Give it back to back. See if I can find a difference. Instant result.
if I change a unit for another and it drifts we know. I then change back and no drift.
Unit fault, whether it is induced from vibes, crash or not. We know.

That offer was gracefully turned down. Fair enough.

But again, I have had mine in for some time now and given it plenty time in the air. I have had bent main shafts shaking the nuts off it. I have had a bent boom putting hi frequency vibes right up its jacksee. oh and lets not forget I got it very slightly wrong and hammered the whole heli in the deck with it in.

Still it locks on rails and I have a nice spatter of fuel resedue on it.

Any one else gona come in with issues PLEASE. lets get them aired now.

I tried one in a Sceadu 50 with a high frequency vibe in the tail and had no drift problems at all, and found it locked in even in fast backward flight, then Russ D had a go with it and frightened the c**p out of me with rippers and the like and the tail would not let go. Any way thats my 10 pence worth.

Hi ade

Ok, do send me the suspect unit that is giving you all that drifting etc.
I will lift the one I have that is rocking no matter what, and drop fit that one and give it a go.

I will let you and indeed every one know what I find no matter which way it is.
If it is the unit that proves faulty, I would suggest I send it back on your behalf as a middle man, to collin at csm so he can find out just what went wrong with it.

if it is fine, I would suggest I send it back to you for further testing to try and get to the bottom of this.

PM coming your way.
cheers

Pushed my 720 really hard today and it didn't let go. Improvements in the mounting system have been very beneficial, probably because of reduced gyroscopic precession (DRIFT) which I think resulted in my old mounting allowing the gyro to wobble cyclically.
Check your mounting method !!!!!!!

Hi.
You got it ade.

What I would like to do however, is seeing as I have an 8700g I would connect it to the pc, default it, which is what I have now.. (total default). then go fly.
After all, I or someone needs to connect to a pc and change the settings for the servo type anyway.

I will set up as per the one I have too. A-la no vibe filter on. I mean how long will it take eh.
Three plugs pulled off, ease the mega one out and drop the other one in.. hmm 1 min.. less.. plug in and set up.

if I get it turn up before wednesday I can get down the field and try it if the weather allows. otherwise it will have to be next Sunday.
So ade, if you can find the moment, get it in a jiffy Monday first class and I will get it tuesday. Fit it that evening and be larging it!.

if it pucka. you get it back. if it poo.. csm cop for it.. we Will know then.

Look forward to it..
Simon.

Guy martin.

I had a slight stepping during loaded piroeuttes when I first got the unit of mine. I chatted to collin about this and moved it closer to the main shaft.
On the Millennium, you can get the gyro right in close just behind so the out trust when piroeutting is far less that when I had it at the front.

I find with mine that the four pads gives a mega result in that I can take the gain to 130% with no problems at all. Also the piro has no stepping and the lock is legendary.

I think the mounting and the positioning go hand in hand with these gyros which could be a very slight issue in comparison to these mega tollerant gy601 units.
But to me the benifits are there to experience.

You may have already written about your combo, but maybe you could just confirm for me... Is your machine one that required the gyro to be fitted under the canopy at the front?

Maybe csm can include some tips from all us guys having a play, within their instructions.

Mine's a XeroG which only has a rear mounting position. I made up a bracket for front mounting as I was trying to redistribute weight to the nose. I made up my own case for my prototype 720 and cut a plate of brass 30 x 45mm - same dims as case base. This allowed the 4 feet to be located as far apart as possible and hence minimise vibration to mainly lateral.

I seem to be getting longer battery life with the 720 over the 560. Just thought I'd mention it.

HI.
Thats a bit odd in my mind. Less battery drain than the 560? Maybe russ can comment on that theory, but I would have thought that the extra vice like lock and mega hold on the piro rate must be working that tail servo a bit harder, thus using a bit more power.

For me I can not really tell as I have gone the Lipo and Regulator route. So I get 8-10 flights per charge which tends to cloud things as I only tend to do about 6 per heli if I am pushing my self.12 a day between two helis is going some for me now...

Not had the potentially dodgy gyro from Ade yet. Was hoping to have got that for last Wednesday so I can find out once and for all why this 720 is wagging and drifting big time for Ade.

Hoping to get it this week if Ade can find a few mins to post. I think csm have an issue either way!!!
Either that 720 is faulty which is why it is giving Ade problems, or it will work pucka in my machine, which means that Ade's heli has something within it that screws this 720. Problem issue for csm wil then be that Ade tells us that the Futaba 601 gyro works well in that heli.
So the 720 is picking up on something a gy601 does not. Tollerance issue maybe.

Hope to find out in due course.. Hope ade can get that gyro to me.. please

Certainly not the case here, 601's will be replaced as soon as the 720's become available!

Well.. untill Ade can confirm that he can get it to work properly or finds whats causing the problem I'll be holding back. It's a shame as I really like the CSM setups but must admit once bitten twice shy... (MMM make that twice bitten)
I have never really managed to get my 560 to perform the way it should have.. its always drifted a bit from new..it still does & still needs constant fiddling..dont get me wrong its alright but not as good as I was lead to believe.
My GY401 a budget gyro by todays standards.. originally bought for a Zoom, gives a consistant lock on all my models raptor 90/Millie & Dyna-X compared..it's not fussy

SO CSM...unless it does what it says on the box...!!

I'm no gyro guru..just an average club pilot flying basic 3D..I mean how do these young guys know if it holds the tail at all.. from what I can see the tail never sits still long enough to see if it does actually lock..LoL!!!!

Anyone tried the 720 with the new S9256 servo yet ?..

My little play with the 720 was with a S9251 which had a lot of flights on it but been playing with the gy611/s9256 for a few weeks now and the servo does seem a lot nicer (runs cooler too in my experence)..

well the 720 is here, just had a look at the instructions and i'll get it fitted soon.

it is a very compact little unit, altough a little larger than the current micros.

i will be running the gyro up front on my raptor 50 (even though the best place is behind the main mast) as my night kit uses the space where the gyro should be. i like the idea of the gyro inside out of the elements too.

any of the beta testers have their 720 up front on a rappy 50?

cheers
