Model Activity Sanction No. 05-1519

RC Helicopter only, NO PLANE
AMA member
Night fly
Date : October 7-8-9
Overnight camping will be permitted for participants and food concessions will be provided by NALF Fentress. As always, operational commitments that may arise have priority and Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana and NALF Fentress maintain the right to cancel the event without notice should operational needs dictate. ( We'll be flying at the beach then , plan B). Though this has not been an issue in the past, it is a caveat that must be made clear.

Map-quest for direction to location at Fentress NALF: 2500 LOCKHEED AVE. CHESAPEAKE , VIRGINIA 23322
757.433.2259

Lodging :
Days Inn 1433 Battlefield Blvd. N 757-547-9262
Super 8 Motel off of Battlefield Blvd. N 100 Red Cedar Court 757-547-8880

Registration fee : Courtesy for rental,....$ 10/ pilot

Directions to Fentress NALF:
Take I-64 to Chesapeake, VA and look for the Greenbrier Parkway South exit. Go south down Greenbrier Parkway, it will become Butts Station Road. At the T intersection turn right onto Centerville Turnpike. Take that road about 1 mile to the first stop light and turn Left onto Mount Pleasant Rd. A few miles down Mt. Pleasant look for either Lockheed, Bellpage, or Doolittle Roads to the right. Turn right down any one of these three and all will lead to NALF Fentress. Go onto the base and you will see the flying field
See you then !

Eulace,
The correct date for the event is in October. I like to invite all of you from difference flying style of discipline, electrics, scale and turbine models . This year we 'll have Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also it will not be as hot as it is in August, above 105 heat index here today.

Hello everyone !
I feel the need to connect to all of the pilots that are planning to come to the event this year, hopefully I can deliver the spirits and friendships along with fun and knowledge. Some of you will have a chance to make new friends and see different Heli's and goodies that you have only seen it on the net.

The field is looking good this year, they've mowed the grass for the entire airport and the staff at Fentress are excited and looking forward to seeing everyone there.

This year, I have received more email and phone calls than the previous, stating that there will be new group of pilots coming from VA, NC,...... This is what I feel is important for the event, lot of times you see beginner pilots are intimidated and gun shy at the event where lots of xXx pilots are on the edged of flying. Well let's this not be the case here... We will have the reps from multiple manufactures and guys please do not coincidently forget your modules, transmitter or AMA card at home.

I will have papers to sign you guys up for AMA memberships as well.
Camping is a BIG plus for us this year and RV ( no hooked up ) we love the weather here this time a year accept for those hurricane that decided to make an unwelcome visit.
Some one has asked me if they could bring there own golf-cart...the answer is YES, please ! This is a huge landing field....

This event is design to promote the rc helicopters and a non profit organization, the $ 10 fee is to help out with legal documents, rental and the rest will donated to the Staffs of Fentress, this is not a clubs sponsor event.

I have been a little rusty myself but when time allowed I will try to do my best to entertain you guys along with Beast, Greg, Charles, Willi, Watty Botts, Zak, Ted, Norven,. Eulace., Jack, Doc....( Lt. Col.Gene had moved out of the area, so we missed a funny guy, keep a looked out for him in the wood, bushes near your field ...)

We will have the 2 Jets noon demo on Saturday and Sunday...

As of today, I like to thanks:
Miniature aircrafts, 2 gift-certificates
Rick's Rc, $ 50 certificates
Zoom' hobbies, 3 T-shirts and certificates
Duralite, 2 x $ 100 gift-certificates
Century helicopters, a 3D pro
Goobee, 2 gift-certificates
Delbies' rc, a box of goodies with lot of T- Shirts, key changes, pens, hats,......
Tom Fiddler will also donating a custom made heli clock

A few reasons that the event has changed to the second weekend in October instead of the 1st weekend :
My wedding anniversary is Oct 4
My mother birthday and also family reunion is October 2
And because Isabelle hurricane was in late Sept two years ago really scared the living out of me ( we lost 12 trees up rooted but all missed the house ) so a decision is to move it back a week just in case ....

I will be out at the field on Friday am, Please feel free to call if you have any other concern and be safe driving here. One other advise I have is instead of taking 58N when coming from the south is to stay on 95 and take 460 E. much better road and traffic.

And for the local Friday night life activity here is one suggestion :
"Norfolk's salute to fleet week "

Room is booked for the weekend and I will have girlfriend in tow.

Shutttle Challenger has been picked up from LHS and is waiting for the ride to VA.

Wolfdad, I am not coming in until late Friday, I could not get the time off from work, so maybe we can hook up any time on Saturday.

Just let me know where you will be.

Thanks again,

Sherman

Hey Chris,
I hope you will actually see me fly this weekend as well. I hope the weather will hold up I just tested my Hirobo Evo and I did my first inverted...I was nervous and delighted.

I might see you Friday....what time will you set up? Also, I will probably be flying with you guys out there.

Hey Gene, I sold the Coast Guard 109A. Thanks to you, it was my first scale and I that inspired me. I have a Bell 222 and hoping to get the BlackHawk for my X-mas present...from me to me.

I hope Norvin will be there?
