I read a thread a few weeks back that people were saying the Trex does not auto to well, and just thought I would share what happened last evening...I was practicing my hovering at different altitudes. I was hovering at about 20 feet when all of the sudden the speed control glitched and shut the engine off....UH OH...well for some reason I hit the thottle hold switch and dropped in neg pitch and then right before it hit I brought back in the + with a little flare. at least that is how my friend says it happened, I really was to freaked out to think. Only damge was a crack in one of the landing gear legs....luckyyyy....
comment: I am no wizard pilot, and have never practiced autos (except in sim) nor have I autoed any other heli ever....so why would people say this thing does not auto well....
Did I just get lucky or can the Trex do them consistantly?
Thanks and have a great day

I'de rather be on the ground wishing I was Flying than in the air wishing I was on the ground...

I have pulled off a lucky unplanned auto in both my Zoom and T-rex. I had motor cutts on both occasions, I was astounded by the fact I remembered what to do. Then again they were still dam hard landing only just soft enough to prevent damage so they were hardley proper auto's.

Check out the items I have for sale in the clasifieds including a CSM 420

There was just a post here a few days ago with a video of a trex doing I think three of four auto`s in a row. So I guess if you have the skill (unlike me) the trex is up to it.

How did THAT get in there?

You´ll probably need abit heavier blades than the stock woodies. Think the autovideo trex had SAB 320 blades.

when people say it wont auto i think what they are actually meaning to say is in comparison to other models.

The margin for error is SO small with the trex because it simply doesnt hold much velocity in the blades so you have one punch of lift to get it right and if you dont time it perfect you are going to have a problem. This margin is much smaller with this heli than others and thats what people are generally trying to say i think. Its just not enough for less than an expert level of flier to get it right consistently.
