Guys,

I'm wanting to use a 601 gyro in a new 90 size helicopter. I'm going to use the new scott gray reactor voltage regulator with a kokam 2s3200ma li po pack.

I understand that the gyro is o.k to use 6 volts on, however does the gyro have its own regulator built in to filter only 4.8 volts to the tail servo as this is the maxium it can have?

I aslo understand that furaba don't recomend that their digital servos like the 9451 to be used with li poly packs - so is it still o.k as the voltage will be regulated?

Regards,
Team.

Now that would be a very nice to have upgrade to gyro's

only your other servo's should also like the regulated output. Not sure what that is on the scott gray one.

I run my 2s2p 4000mah lipo's with a duralite regulator on 5.6V and this seems to be a nice trade off between "longivety" and power/speed.
Btw. I have Futaba 9255's on the swash and a 601/9251 combo for the tail.

Have about 10 flights without any worries.

Greetz,

Marc

4.8v RX pack when fully charged reads over 6Volt, so surley a lipo that is regulated to 5.6v or even 6v, is going to be more than ok ? (as long as it does not go above 6v ?)

You tell me

Ryan.

I've also had good results from running 5.6 volts... Machine has a full season...

Hey man, why does my lipo get bigger every time I charge it?

Hi,

The SGP Reactor voltage regulator will regulate 5.2V to the Gyro/tail servo and 5.6V to the CCPM or cyclic/pitch servos on a separate bus. 5.2V is a nominal voltage that was chosen to be safe with all gyros and high speed tail servos they often come with. It is probable that the 601 has regulates voltage to the sensor, but whatever your RX pack voltage is running is what the tail servo will get.

It is perfectly safe to use Li-Poly, Li-Ion or other packs if they are regulated since the output of the regualtor is at a constant and safe voltage.

For more info my website will be up shortly with updates http://www.scottgrayrc.com

Hey Scott,

That photo on your web site, top right corner, with all the smoke - I do believe that's taken from last years 3D masters and its the exact same photo I have as my PC wall paper!
