What does it mean? What is the process and/or how do you learn it?

Collective management is simply using just enough collective, to perform the manuever, but not so much as to bogg the engine. The only way to learn it: Pratice, Practice, and Practice!!

A really good way to learn it is to fly a 30 size machine WITHOUT a governor. Then learning to do 3D maneuvers without bogging the engine throughout all attitudes and orientations.

An example would be a simple loop. Smoothly beginning the loop and continuing with a nice steady sounding engine.

You will also learn to setup your heli much better without a governor. IMO.

Smooth collective management is really nice to watch.

What does it mean?
Exactly what it says
What is the process
Learning just the correct amount of collective for a given maneuver. Too much collective, or too little, and you botch the maneuver. IMO, a good intermediate move that really begins to teach this is the funnel. Too little, and you are coming down...too much, and you will spiral up.
how do you learn it?
Many, many cases of fuel. It's not something that can truly be taught, only explained. It is something you have to learn the reflexes of exactly where to have the stick at a given point.

Flying a heli is like seeing the Matrix, it is a mind bending experience.

Ditto

I didn't get my first governer till I got my EVO and had overspeed problems.
Now my curves on my Extreme are so close that if the governer quits I don't usually notice.
Jeff is a master at collective management and is a KICK to watch fly.

(that will be a gallon of 30% next time I see you for the nice compliment. )
