hi again ppl,

right the question of the day is about painted rotors,

firstly, is it worth doing it (a cool spiral or ring was what i was thinking of)

secondly will it distract me

thirdly will it flake and look ugly after a few flights

second qustion, is it worth painting the heli, i was thinking on doing a yello and black (or all black and maby flames) theme on a caliber .30 so i was wondering if i should bother or just use the run of the mill stickers that come in the box, (painting skill is not a problem A: cuz im a geek and play and paint warhammer (miniatures) and B: cuz i have way to much time on my hands)

any thoughts would be swell (he he i used the word swell)

If you want the rings of color on your blades did you consider covering them as opposed to painting? I did this to a set of black NHP carbon blades years ago for a scale project. I wrapped white monokote trim sheets around the leading edge and trimmed them off even with the trailing edge. NHP blades used to actually come with a white stick on covering if you didn't want the black. I would go this route as opposed to painting. It won't chip or flake off, and if you make the stripes all the same size the blades should stay balanced(check it of course). As far as painting other parts like the canopy, yellow shows up among the best, and black among the worst.

Yes but not solid all yellow. You need a contrasting colour there as well, red is good.

i dont recomend painting your heli black because if you happen to get in the right position with your heli between you and the sun your screwed because you will easily loose orientation with it but even with the sun at you back the heli will just look like a big shadow all the time

I pain't mine with flourescent autopaint, Orange or Red contrasts best with the sky. Forget about spirals or swirls. The rotor spins way too fast to be nothing more than a colored blurr.

When I paint my blades, I tape them adjacent to one another and spray them simultaneously. This way I don't screw up the balance.

Light travels faster than sound, thats why some people appear so bright UNTIL you hear them speak.
