I use 3 GWS Naro+/HP/BB servos on the cyclic control of my T-REX. One of the servos die suddenly while I was airbourne. It ended up a crash at the end. I took out the servo and checked for stripping gears. Nothing, everything look perfect. The servo has never gone through any hard crashes and it's only 3 months old. It looks like the potentiometer (variable resistor) die. If I plug it into the Rx and power it up, you can turn the servo by hand (easily) until it hits a point where you feel the motor starting to kick in. Strange???? Has anyone experienced this before?

Also how often do you replace your tail servo? My tail servo (GWS Std Pico) always works hard to keep the tail straight, and I am a bit worried about their life span. How ofter do you guys replace them?

Thanks.

Funny enough mine went this week with the same symptoms. Took it apart and you can tell something burnt out from the smell.

I've been flying with all GWS Naro servos since Feburary. Only one crash stripped some gears. Other than that they have been working great.

I did buy a HiTec and put it on the tail for a flight, decided it wasn't any better than the GWS and was heavier so I moved it to the elevator. Then when I plugged it into the receiver, nothing. It was dead after one flight. Good thing it happened on the ground.

I'll keep a closer eye out on my GWS's. Thanks for the heads up.

Took it apart again and couldn't find any traces of burnt. No smell at all. I am wondering what's the life span on these micro servos??

Mine happened on the Aileron servo and was feed by the BEC off my Align 25 ESC. All my servo linkages are smooth without any binding. Does anyone know what's the BEC output voltage?

I am not sure if I should replace all the servos. I DON'T WANT TO CRASH MY REXY AGAIN.

I use GWS Pico BB servos on my IFO. I've owned it for 2 years now, and have had two seperate servo failures. The wires in the motor short out after a period of time.

GWS servos are junk

I too had problems with the GWS servos. All mine have failed the exact same way as every one else here. They all seem to be electronic failures. ALLERC should stop selling them! Or warn any one who wants to by them. I have now have Hitec HS56 all around and have not had a problem.

I think calling them junk is a little strong, did a search over the last 6 months, doesn't seem to be a problem with them.. Maybe a diaper change is in order.

Thats funny

But, you will not be laughing when one fails and your heli piro's into your head You could be changing more than your diaper in that case. Like I said there JUNK pieces of sh*t!!!!!!!
All joking aside if you are using them please be carefull. They will fail.

I don't use them, using hs56's all around at this time. I seen your signature line and just could not pass it up this time. Everything falls, the trick is to catch it on the workbench and not in the air. You have a good day/night.

I've been running the naro+hp/bb servos in my hornet for a long time. (1+ years) and haven't had one fail. In fact I recently put them in my trex and still haven't had any problems.

I like them better than the Hitec 50s because they don't have the slop but are still as fast.

Just my 2 cents.
