I flew all three in the same Trex, stock woodies, ccpm, 11tooth pinion on 3S1P packs of 1800, 2000, 2100 from Dymond and a 2100 from Polyquest.
CC25 controller in fixed throttle mode, no-current limiting
The 3500 AON is the rocket of the bunch and everything is cool~warm
The 3000 AON is a cruising motor, didn 't measure it but it seems to get a minute or two more flight time. I am currently using this motor in the governor mode.
The Mega ran the warmest, but that was many flights ago. At that time I was just getting use to my Trex, and as such I was hovering most of the time. The last two are definitely less powerful than my friend's 400DH@ 8T pinion. But the 3500 kV Aon seems stronger than the 400DH.
I didn't bother to try, all the possible pinion combinations as my motors all had 3.2mm shafts, I could not try the 10T pinion. I was also too lazy to try a 13T on the 3000kV AON nor the Mega. For my non 3D type of flying, perhaps the best comprimise motor is something with a kV between the two, ie about 3250 rpm/V ? I am now curious about the Astroflight 803T ?
Have you looked into it ? Have you also looked a the the threads talking about the new Aurora 480TX motor ?

For the money I would say the AON 3500 kV motor with the heatsink is the best deal. Some say that the 3000 rpm/V AON is best on 4S, but I want to stay with 3S packs. Who knows, perhaps the Neu motor or the Mega 3T and AON 3000kV motors might be in a completely different class when on 4S ?
Perhaps, if you are starting heli's the lower kV motors would be good to start with, and then progress to 4S packs when you need more power ?
