I've begun looking for a tx, just casually, becuase I'm outgrowing my 8103. just today though, I dropped my tx box ( which is lined with foam) and somehow the charge jack broke internally. I popped her open, and had to glue it back, and I began to think about tx construction. Of course, I'm not saying the jack popping free is anyone fault but my own, but I'm now down with the cheap plastics ( the 8103 is miles beyond my old eclipse, but I can't remmeber enough about my 8u's to compare that). what tx would you guys say feels the most substantial? of course, I love all the 14mz's new bling features and color screens, but it seems to have a bit of cheap feeling too ( maybe I am being picky). What about the 9z? or the 10x? In the next 2 months or so, I'll need a new tx... so I'm just thinking ahead. all the multiplex stuff is interesting, but tray radio's aren't my thing ( I don't use neckstraps very often, and never want to use a tray) I'm pretty good to my tx, and not one of those droppers, but i still like a heavy metal feeling in my hands. today was a bad day when I slipped, the darn crappy tx box sholder strap broke, and it tumbled.

thanks

My Hitec likes to break the carrying handle off a lot, and if you overtighten the case screws just a hair....they all snap off.
JR and FUT have much higher quality. I think FUTABA may be slightly ahead in the quality on the 9CH and up.

Did you notice a big difference in the feel of the model when you switched from Hitec to JR?

no, I didn't, but I didn't fly heli's with the eclipse, so I couldn't get a good comparison. my hitec broke is darn handle a lot. some 30 minute epoxy fixed that up... and then duct tape... the 8103 was miles ahead of the eclipse in programming, but I want more.. i want more! haha...

The Jr 10X's housing is made from magnesium. Here is a quote directly from Horizon Hobby's website:
The 10X is housed in a magnesium cast case for strength, style, and function. The case also features non-slip contoured backing for a firm, comfortable grip.
I have the older 10SXII and have no complaints what-so-ever. It is solid, yet very comfortable to hold. I prefer the feel to this transmitter over the Futaba 9C series any day. I had a Futaba 8UHPS and it didn't have quite the feel that my 10SXII has.
