Well, i ran1 1/2 gallons through my hawk in the last 4 days, really doing good, then it happened !!! believe it or not, the rotopod caused it all..one of the retaining clips broke!!!!! It was my third tank of the day and i was practicing nose in, had it at a real steady hover and all of a sudden one side of the rotopod fell off the heli.....now i have this 4 foot comtraption hanging from my heli, about out of fuel, and scared to death to land it, it was hanging straight down. i lowered onto a whiffle ball and it looked like i could slide the heli to the side and land it back on the rotopod, but it got sort of twisted and was getting out of control, so i cut the throttle fast and it slammed down from about 3 feet, broke both tail fins and both tail drive gears. it cost me about 20 bucks to fix it
I guess thats not bad for my first (crash) if ya wanna call it that..needless to say, the rotopod will never go on again....I was thinking about taking it off for that flight but it was a little windy and i chickened out...for those of you using a rotopod, check the retaining system after each flight, I'm not downing the rotopod, with out it, I'd have no chopper by now, i just failed to check it...Ya live and ya learn !
