Question if any of you have the time.. Are all crystal the same or are the brands differ from a certain type of crystal for the tx and rx?? Say I have a RD6000 that came on channel 38 and all my equipment is on channel 52.. Can I just stick any given tx channel 52 crystal in it?? Or am I having to do something else.. Many thanks for the help..

Sigh, my turn to be the doom sayer.

You cannot legally replace the TX crystal in the USA. It must be done by a certified repair station or qualified, FCC licensed individual.
Using the rechanneled TX may cause interference or frequency shift resulting in crashing your or someone elses model.
AMA insurance will be void.
FCC Stormtroopers will break down your door at 2am to arrest you.
Fieldmice will go sterile.

Just FYI.

Fritz, I dont believe in AMA no more.. They burned me bad.. I was at a AMA sanctioned flying field and my plane dead sticked, veared off and hit a parked car (in the flying fields parking lot mind you) and did abit over $1200 in damage.. AMA would not cover it and made me use my house insurance to pay for the damage.. So now I fly at my local park that has 3 inter connecting soccer fields.. I hear a lot of people fly there but I dont see them as I fly early mornings due to I work the midnight shift. Just a thought from me..

I believe AMA insurance only picks up after your home owners insurance is exhausted.

See so whats the point of having AMA if they dont pay up when something happens.. And for one I dont even see how ones house insurance plays into something that does not even involve ones own house..

Homeowners insurance has a liability part. If you do something stupid pretty much anywhere it covers you.
AMA insurance comes in when the homeowners runs out or if - like me - you don't have homeowners. AMA covers to 2.5 million U$ liability, 25k medical, 10k death and 1k theft. I don't think most peoples home ins liability goes up that high. Also some companies exclude model aircraft from coverage.
Think of AMA as 'supplemental insurance'. With lawsuit payouts in the millions these days, an extra 2.5 mill for U$58 a year is pretty good.

AMA

Ahh I understand now on AMA.. I just thought it was lame for them not even to explain why I had to use my house insurance in the fisrt place.. All they sent back was a denile for payment and that i need to contact my house insurance for coverages..

AMA Insurance

I often wondered about that insurance thing too. I fly in my backyard 95% of the time but there are occasions that I would like to go out and fly with some other people but they all say, "you must have an AMA card to fly here". I always just figured it was their way of feeling like they're important. Besides, I'd be curious to know if AMA actually ever did pay for anything?!? Anyone out there ever have a claim?? Just a thought.
