Bad News - Hawk Sport crashed last night, lost orientation and went in pretty hard from height.

GOOD NEWS - Hawk Pro ordered with TOKI 40 & Muffler. Plus blingy thingies that I need and some stuff that has been on my list for awhile.

Bad News - Credit card balance is going in the wrong direction.

GOOD NEWS - I have my Raven 50 to fly while I'm waiting for the Hawk Pro so I won't be without a Heli.

I think you purposely "lost orientation" on the sport cause you needed an excuse to get the new pro

Bc Don,

Please let us know how you like the Toki engine. I am looking to get one for my hawk but have heard mixed reviews. Its either too loud with the stock muffler or it breaks the plastic fan while starting. Did you buy it with muffler or getting a different one?
Thanks

Josh

im not sure how you could break the fan other than the start shaft spinning then it drops into the fan at full speed...Just make sure its in the fan before starting..not to hard...Its really not that loud, and for a stock muffler, its awsome. i did notice you have to richen the low end needle to keep it running..the stock settings are not right. Low end needs to be about two and half turns from closed..im not positive on that number, but it sounds correct from what i remember on mine.

Other than that, my toki is doing really well, and is easy to tune...only downside is that it leans out near the bottom of the tank, which i know always happens because theres no pump...i might try the uni flow out on it and see what happens

the trick to these starting system is

first, do not push down hard on your starter,,,

(using a wand with a one-way bearing) 1) to not push the starter button until the T is all the way down in the slot, and 2) do not let the T come up until the wand has stopped turning or slow's down a lot,,,

(using a wand withOUT a one-way bearing) 1) to not push the starter button until the T is all the way down in the slot, and 2) do not let the T to come up until the wand has slowed down to matched the speed of the running motor,,,

another trick is to make a spacer to go on the T shaft between the hex cup and the top bearing, this spacer will keep the T from pushing down on the fan...

I broke more than my share of fans on my Hawk Sport. Ended up buying a one-way bearing start shaft AND an aluminum fan (which survived the crash much better than the rest of the Heli). I bought the kit with the Toki + extra muffler.

Of note when I disassembled the Hawk Sport fully I found more damage than I thought. One of the main frames was just about cracked all the way through (wouldn't you know it is the same side that cracked when I first totaled my original Hawk Sport so I now have two right sides). I lost the "ears" off my 9254 so I've ordered a new case. Top main bearing was screwed up cause the main shaft was bent soo much. Battery tray in multiple pieces. Also, I have a crack in the top servo tray before the crash which I CA'd. I'm thinking that may have given way as that would have affected fore / aft cyclic.

Now, I ordered and didn't hear so I'm hoping that it shipped OK and nothing is back ordered.
