Hi Russ
Now we've just gotta lead them into "the way of the leccy" and all will be well...

I'd love to see what Steven could have done with a real heli

And when you gonna let young Duncan have a go with your 14? His displays were OK but I got a strong impression he was holding his best moves back for 3DM

Anyway to get back to the topic in hand as no one seems to be buying my idea of 3D "A" and "B" standard set moves for the proleteriat can I make another suggestion?

On the Sunday afternoon freestyle I think most will agree with me that the 2 most brilliant flights ended in 1. inverted splat and 2. tail blades clipped ground. (unfortunately I've no idea who the relevant pilots were as the buggers kept swapping machines to confuse me )

Anyroads can I suggest (as this is an independent event and doesn't follow 3DM scoring) that those rounds get marked at point of impact=3 mins?

In other words Johnny nutter spanks his machine big time for 1min 53 secs then meets mater terra .. his score should reflect that flight rather than flying round 50ft up like a girlie and scoring all the points.

It might not be PC but should wow the crowd .... and keep the heli shops happy

If I'm a girlie for flying at 50 feet what does that make you?
You didn't have the balls to enter............

The competition is scored over 2 rounds. You know that, you were there.

Bruce won because he done some difficult set moves and done them very well.

By his own admittance his freestyle was not his strong point (my situation was the same) but it's the best pilot of the 2 rounds combined that won.

Next year maybe Adam can do his chaos lauch then bin in after 10 seconds. By your reckoning that would make him the winner!

Baz.

Why, oh why, oh why does it allways come back to the same tired old litany?
I can't be alone in this situation .. I'd LOVE to compete.. .it's just that I know, no matter how many hours I put in I'll still be crap .. there are kids there 1/3rd my age like Adam who surely are the future of this sport and deserve they're place over some sad old git like me?

However I wasn't referreing to Adams chaos launch, spectacular as it was. I was thinking of the 2 flights around that time, one ended when inverted the head hit the ground, the second was when Craig clipped his tail blades. Both of those flights were more than long enough to score the points, to be marked down because they failed to reach 3 mins seems harsh to say the least.

Maybe something like 75% of score if you pass 1 min 30 secs and 85% score if you pass 2 minutes..??

I really feel some of the carping we are seeing in another thread (whilst somewhat predictable) is going totally against the spirit of the competition and the aims and efforts of the organisers.

Anyone else want to add they're 2 ha'porth?

Look
Enough of the green tights allready.. they were SO last year...

Anyone who watches LK today just knows that the well dressed ..eh hem "merry man" wouldn't be seen dead in anything but beige this season.

So beige is the new black (or is that green?)

Think I need a bit of a lie down

calm down dudes

yep baz you did well to get third and i recon your a great flyer..but free style is down to your own choice and we should not comment if someone likes another flight better. thats there choice after all...we were judged by the the judges and thats the final placing.although thats there choice also...im very happy with forth place but i do recon if i would have been the judge i would have made a different choice...i would have still been 4th and you third but there would have been some changes in the top ten....but i would like to see alot more competing next year and will only encourage people to compete..after all the atmosphere was electric..well done to all competitors.......
maybe if people like set man'vres they should try... a.h.a... comps and put them selves up for true set man'vres
all the best and ill be there next year

Ooop's didn't realise anyone actually reads my inane ramblings

Hi Steven
All I can say is I've got a blinged out Rap90 (PS Omi/cline MP2 etc) and it's a pussycat compared with my 3DMP

Just wished time had allowed a flight with competent thumbs on the sticks, 'cos it scares me sh£tless

may have a point

I RECON REESY HAS A POINT.i think the CLUBMAN lads will have it sorted for next year..i was shocked when bruce crashed in his second round and thought..thats it gareths got it in the bag..and i was shocked when we had another round.because free style does risk the model thats why you see crashes in the free style.i didnt want another round...how can you have two free style round(thats crap)......when you look at the sums mine.barry.gareths round add up but bruces dont..only if you scrap round two when he crashed...a lot of the competitor thought it was over when the second round was finished because a few of them came to me a said(thank god thats over)....only to go again....
alot of big people have backed out of comps because they see the judging as unfair..around the world..like bob johnson etc
loved it tho
regards craig

Hi Reesy,

I have heard what Duncan does with other peoples 50 size models! I guess he will be in the running for a Ion 50 when they appear... last heard it was a few weeks

I am amazed Stevens not got an MP... he could do wonders with all the vertical punch out!

Hello Russ
So Duncan's getting a leccy eh? looks like the MK area will be suffering brown outs come mid June

Anyway back to the case in point, I REALLY wasn't having a pop at anyone for flying in a more sensible manner (honest ) my point was that maybe it was wrong to penalise the guys with a more balls to the wall style when they made slight misjudements.

As to the balance of set manouvres v freestyle (and again remember this is a seperate event so the organisers can set their own agenda) surely the answer would be to weight the freestyle 60-40 or 70-30 so the most exciting fliers score appropriately.

Despite all the flak flying in another thread I can't really believe Gareth would have been happy winning based on the results of the first 2 rounds (well apart from the Magnum that is )

I guess at the end of the day you have to ask what the event is aiming to produce, if (as I beleieved) it is to bring on the best of this country's fliers and give them a route into 3DM then surely the most adventurous deserve to reap the rewards?
