After a fantastic weekend up at Goole (kudos to Neil, Paul and the gang) and a terrific competition which really encapsulated what a clubman's competition is all about.
I just wonder what lesson's can be learned for the future?

Firstly the placings which were unfortunately settled more by who managed to keep a heli in the air .. I know a couple of the younger lad's will have been disappointed .. probably were a fair reflection of the relative ability.
I saw Gareth fly almost perfect chaos at head height a week previously, unfortunately this was with his machine that exploded a few day's before the contest, his performance with a borrowed machine (as were some others) was commendable to say the least.
To see how he (and Bruce and others?) perform at 3DM should give a good pointer to where this competition will lead in the future. I remember the remarkable improvement Chris Walton made from last years Goole thru to 3DM.

One suggestion tho' is to move the competition further south (like Northampton) the ground there seems an inch or two lower? ..

Anyway enough of my inane ramblings and back to the topic. A lot of spectators felt less overawed by the moves being played out in front of them than they do at 3DM.

Now we have a clearly defined routine for the BMFA "A" and "B" certificate and our American cousins have a 7 level list of manouvres which name slips my mind as I write.

What chance someone defining and classifiying a 3D "A" and "B" certificate (purely on an informal basis to begin), it would give us general hackers something to aim at without the sweaty palms and laundry bill's normally associated with full competition?

One thing I can suggest having watched Steven and Ade plus the 3DM regulars perform is that the day's when we were the poor relations to the hotshots from the USA and beyond are well and truly over.

Thanks to all for a great weekend.

Paul

ill tell you what i realised

not to take my tail blade off on an inverted backwards pass..like i did on my finals..anyway i enjoyed myself and have been flying today....i was happy to get 4TH PLACE and was very happy with 3rd in free style....but ill tell you something about the standard....which may be a problem for next year...i myself will be alot better next year and so will all the other pilots..so when you watch year the level will be UP..thats quite normal..but that makes it hard for club flyers to compete with the likes of...below
barry curtis who was 3rd
craig simmons 4th place
craig jones 5th place
and the others
so how hard will it be next year..
regards CRAIG SIMMONS/black country models
maybe they should not allow the top 5 to compete again in clubman 3d

So we`ll have a Clubman`s 3D where club flyers don`t stand a chance?

thats my point

i recon there need to be another class.so total beginners can have a go..and the experts have to go up a class..otherwise you cant avoid this going on..i recon the top five have to go up into the other class because with the standard this year just think what next year will be like..
people doing inverted piro 8s and tumbling circuits etc arnt club pilots in general..they are high level pilots and there should be a list of basic manv'res for clubman beginners and others for an expert like class...im in the midlands and are in two clubs 75 members in one and 130 members in another and dont see anyone doing these high k factor man'vres..dont get me wrong im happy with the event.BUT I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS A BEGINNER AT 3D.BUT I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT AND WOULD LIKE TO SAY WELL DONE TO THE CLUBMAN 3D LADS

Oh no, here we go again!!

Top of clubmans means you should be in 3DM sportsmans... wasn't that kinda half of the point?

You're gonna end up with infinite numbers of levels to keep everyone happy.. the bottom line is that it's a comp and everyone works to do well.. thats the nature of a comp.. If you are a beginner then you practise to be good enough to enter the comps...(if you want to)

It's no rocket science... hours of practise is directly related to how good you are.. so if you wanna get good... get practising

Andy
(getting no practise... so I'm getting crap! )

Thats what l thought, but l read somewhere that one bloke couldn`t handle the £100 to enter the sportsmans so he went in for the clubmans instead. Then the K factor of some was too high for the sportsmans. So whats that all about? lt will be interesting to watch this unfold.ls it to support the masters or will it compete with it?
Will it end up as a UK championship?
Will the 3DM be short of sponcership if some move to the clubmans?
l think there`ll be a lot of head scratching (and maybe some head banging ) before next year.

I think maybe top 3 or at least the winner move upto 3DM Sportsman, thought that was kinda the idea anyhow.

Darksider already is so he wont be in Clubman 3D next year.

Back to the question.
I just wonder what lesson's can be learned for the future?
Dangerous Dick needs full body armour & lid for next year.

I finished 3rd at Clubman 3D and am also flying in the sportsman class at 3D Masters this year.

What this means is that the top 3 finishers at the Clubman 3D event are all barred from entering next year.

Looks like the list of entrants is governing it's self quite well!

Cheers,
Barry Curtis.

Baz.

Hi all
Adam (Raptorboy1) is planning next year already.
Two identical ships
and 20 tail gearboxes as backup
Also with all the problems on the day by the time he flew my head was spinning and I personaly lost him points on his timing.
There are already two more members of our club that will be competeing next year and yes the standard will be higher but thats only good for the hobby / sport.

I learnt a great deal from this comp and to be quite honest has made the Crane teem even stronger and more determined to succeed.

Went with 6 lads from the North East - we were a bit put out with the consession stand, by lunch time we could not get a cup of coffee because they had run out of cups.
Loved the show but better eatery the next time please.
