rckrzy1, I'm also running CC35 with TP2100 and TP2000's. My headspeed is somwhere in the range of 2100-2400 with an 8-tooth pinion. I haven't tached it recently. Is the red light on the ESC coming on at full throttle? Maybe your endpoints aren't set right.

Then again, I have heard that some people occasionally get a bad motor. Maybe you should send it back.

Mine really is a great performer. I haven't flown other motors in the trex, but I'm more than happy with this one. The batteries get a little warmer than I'd like if I fly the entire pack without stopping, but I like to fly it hard too. I'd recommend this motor highly.

Yes I checked the led, had my son hold it over his head, and it's
getting full LED, just seems to wound wrong I guess.

My 400dh runs 2280rpm with an 8 tooth pinion from hover to 100% throttle. I'm running TP2100 as well. I get about 9 minutes of good flight and my headspeed goes down as the battery dies. I think the TP's are a little under par for this motor and discharge abilities, but it flies well enough for my flying style.

My throttle curve is:
0 85 90 95 100
My pictch (in degree's) is:
-1 (no throttle)
6.5 (mid stick)
11 (full throttle)

1700 is aweful low. Even my align 400s, 13 tooth, motor was 1980rpm, and I thought that was low. The 400dh is higher. Sounds like something is wrong.

Many variables come into play here.
Throttle/Pitch curves
Gear mesh
Tail belt
free-ness of the main or tail rotors to spin
battery going bad
ESC setup; read justgofly for proper settings.
Maybe even a bad motor.
I'm sure theres more.

Do you have the black or blue version? Black is the latest.

SAME HELI with same radio setup same everything, just swaping motors/pinions here.

align goes way over 2200 so my belt is nice and loose, main gear the
same, just a tad of slack. Batteries both new 2100 blue packs, only 10 flights each, Like I said with all the same the align 2800 is by far
a more powerfull motor. And you should not have to do all kinds of
weird things to the ESC to get it to run right, the align 2800sf was
a plug n play motor, so far the JGF is a plug and cry. I'm running CC1.12 which is supposed to work fine. The motor runs constant it just acts like the 400dh is 2500KV, where as such it will never develope enough head speed to fly right.

I run 400dh with align 35 ESC non gov and it is a lot better than a 400s I had before.
It is much powerful, you can get 2400rpm on 8T, but I prefer to run 2000rpm and have more time for fly (around 14 min with TP 2100).
It is a very good motor, it stays cold with this configuration.
When you push your stick up the motor dont even reduce the rpm of the rotor and it is a really fast climb.

rckrzy1,

Maybe you got a bad motor if your Align headspead is higher with the same settings besides pinion of course. Does JGF warrenty their motors or the person you bought it from?

I've noticed a trend in this thread. Everyone who's been running a 35amp esc has no probs with the 400dh and those who have complaints run a 25amp esc. hmmmmmm....

Run a align 25 amp no problems at all, motor has been running strong for around 5 months now, but did wear a groove in the main shaft, bought a new motor for the bell main shaft replacement for the old motor, cause I didnt want the heli to be down, now just waiting for the bell shaft replacement to have a spare motor on hand with a pinion on it ready to go.

My current dh has been in my shogun and thru the many mishaps of my Trex over 7-8 months and it is still going strong. Iused a CC25 and it worked great in my Shogun, but ith the added weight of the Trex the CC 25 crapped out put on the 35 and it is running much excellent now I just orderd a new one for my X400 to see what happens.

Has anyone used it in their X400 yet?

I don't know , I keep getting weird mail from Vinnie. I sent it back and
asked him to test it and if it was bad send me a new one, if it was good
then refund me because it won't work for me.

Then I get this.
As stated on my web site, governor mode is not recommended. All of the ESC settings are listed. You will get significantly less power using Governor mode. Proper implementation of governor mode requires the ESC to be able to handle each specific class of motor for it to properly work, and Phoenix and even our own ESC do not handle governor mode efficiently for outrunners.

I will send you a refund though, since you’ve already returned the motor.

Vinnie

.
I thought align 2800sf's where outrunners too?

Guys - I just found this thread. The motor Adam sent back ran up fine, but I haven't run KV testing on it yet. I don't think I've given any misleading information to Adam, as I have offered him a refund or a replacement. He stated that "What ever you want to do is all right with me.". Not sure if that means either, so I have put the motor in for testing. This takes time. As I do to all of my customers, if they are not satisfied a full refund is available or a replacement. There are many variables that have extended the test time of Adams motor. I think I have been very above board on this and do not like how I am being portrayed.

Adam - if you want a refund - please say so and I will gladly refund your money. If you want a new motor - without waiting for my completed testing - please say so. I support all of my customers fully and provide much more information than most ask for.

I have many hundreds of satisfied 400DH customers, who will say the KV is not 2500 and will support that this motor is very good in both the Shogun and T-Rex. I will get to the bottom of the issue with Adams motor.

I just got my 400DH today and hope to fly it tomorrow. So far it looks to have more power than the align. I am replacing an Align 400L that failed in flight. It looks like the shaft was defective. I have emailed align twice and never received a respose. Vinny seems to stand behind his product, align not; that is something to keep in mind.

I just finished measuring the KV of Adam's returned motor. It showed a KV of 4000. I opened a new motor and it showed identical results. I am returning his money.

Anyone want to purchase a perfectly good 400DH - used once for $35 Shipped ? Actually I have two of these - since I opened a second one to compare to rckrzy1 (Adam). Send me an email Vinnie@JustGoFly.com If you think it's underpowered in your setup - I will give you a full refund - minus paypal fees. It has 3.5mm gold connectors soldered on and I will provide the duplicate set of 3.5mm female connectors for your ESC.

Gents,

No more emails and PM's please. The two motors I offered for sale at $35 are sold.

Keep an eye open for a new heli motor which I will post later tonight. Gotta get some flying time in now

I didn't mean to hijack this thread - so please email me if you have comments. Vinnie@JustGoFly.com
