just accidently found this news from the web. Yet no link for english page but japanese. A new 50 class Caliber 5 comes with Mechanical mixing system (MMS). gear ratio 9.6:1:5, carbon main rotor for 3D purpose, equip with 80cc tank(seems small for me) . Metallic part included aluminum clutch drum & Pully, half metallic swash plates, and metallic heads (york, central hub, and seesaw). A relatively ugly canopy. Wonder found the YS50 ST kit selling at 80850 yen while OS50"SX" ring hyper kit selling at 82425 Yen......forgot telling you , it available at coming July........its hot.... baby. Kyosho link

Wrong gear ratio for the YS. Needs to be 8.5 or 8.6.

yup and.
I hope the stock head is better. The one I flew was a reall pain on getting the blades to track. Head has too much slop without 'upgrades'

Othersiwe hell yea.

So if the avilability of the 50's is anything like the 91's I guess I'll have to buy one of these for the engine and put it in my EVO. Anybody want to but a Caliber 50 without an engine?

That canopy actually looks a lot like a modernized Nexus canopy to me. Might be a bad omen

Douglas 8.5-8.6 gear ratio is not critical it would run fine on 9.6-1

I agree,i wouldnt run my OS 50 at 9.6. Most YS engines dont like to be reved high, they tend to selfdistruct. Even with a 8.5 ratio and 1900 headspeed your starting to get out of the engines power range. 1900 seems like a good headspeed on the raptor 50.

Hello I saw RCU's coverage of the RCX show in Anaheim, CA where the Caliber 5 made an appearance and they said it will have different options available. 2 different motors the OS 50 and the other YS as well as different setups mechanical or electrical mixing. and will include all the metal and carbonfiber upgrades as stardard instead of buy it later. as well as carbonfiber main rotor blades instead of woodies. They did note that the mixing options will be kit dependant instead of including all the parts for either option in one box like the Caliber 30. They said it should be available by mid july. If it flies as sweet as my Caliber 30 It'll be sitting in my Hangar for sure

It is due for a February US release. Most likely with no motor. It comes with a metal head and carbon blades 3D set up. MMS is standard with EMS as an add on if desired. It is not the exact same as the Caliber 30. Air frame is reinforced but has a similar good belt drive system as the C30.
