Here is my newly painted Ergo 60. I used Bulldog, Primer, and a lot of wet sanding to get the final result. It appears to adhere really nicely. I used auto chrome trim for the top and the borders of the canopy to match my muffler and tail boom supports. I didn't know the tail boom supports would come out blinged, but they did after I used Mother's polish on them. I used Trimbrite PRISMA for the diagonal stripe and border it with black pinstripe. I know NOS has nothing to do with heli’s but it gives me a point of reference and makes the canopy stand out. I flew her yesterday and it looked good in the air.

...Thanks guys. Yeah...it is the orginal Ergo body. I applied Bulldog then prime it. then wet sanded it with 800, then primed, then wet sand it with 1000, then I applied the paint and did the same process as I did with the primer. Then put 3 coats of clear coat. After the paint was dry, I waxed it with Mequiar's #7. It turned out to be very glossy. I got rave reviews at the field, they especially like the chrome trim. It looks very fast even in a slow forward pass. I like being a little different.

Bulldog

Bulldog is an Aerosol Spray Adhedsion that is design to spray on plastic so that paint can stick and not come off (geared for plastic bumpers on vehicles). You can find it in Speciality paint stores, and I think Pepboys.

...Ergo crashed but the Paint didn't Peel

Well...the Ergo 60 NOZ went down this past weekend. Trying to do a funnel and didn't realize I didn't have my high rates on...and she came down about 50ft. mad: However, the paint didn't crack at all. One part of the paint did come off the primer but the primer stuck. The canopy split about 2 inches underneath but the paint didn't come off.

Those Ergo's have very durable canopies considering it went nose in; however, the radio tray did break some electronics flew out but nothing very major. I've only used some CA and painted the 3/8" spot with orange and used some McQuires to shine it back up. She is good as new. I thought this painting technique was time consuming but it was worth considering what it went through.
