I have a T-REX with standard length tail boom. I want to put on the CF blades (325mm) without putting on an extended boom, how much of the main blade tips do I have to trim off? Is it a good idea to do that?

Thanks.

Question???

Why???, why would you buy larger rotor blades just to trim them back? Am I missing something here?

I use them without cutting, they are close but I never managed to have a tail rotor strike on the standard boom.
*Edit* I just checked and I did grind the black down to the yellow on all the sets I have but one(I'm not using). So I retract the above, the one I use are ground down to the yellow on the ends. Just a little extra clearance. The reason for cutting them down is that they don't offer the cf filled blades in the smaller sizes and some like the flight performance of the stiffer blade.

Some people shave there tail blades down 2 or 3 mm I think, to miss the main blades.

I have another idea. Is it possible to drill another hole further to the inside (6mm to 8mm maybe) on the other end (near the blade grips)? Then cut off the excess before fitting it back onto the blade grips.

Has anyone tried this before???

Sounds like that combination would make for some interesting flying. Lots of lift with a quicker piro. Hmm...
