Those are two great looking birds, especially the 14. Good luck with your ION. I'm starting my ION AP build this week.

you noticed any decrease in power from the blades?

i'am running a plettenberg hp300/30/a3 "heli"
flightpower 5s3p
and mikado 580's, it had adiquete power flying my rebel xt, but that is certainly not my camera on a regular basis, and it was pulling a hefty 26 amps

so you must have some good power lifting a heavier mount w/ camera while spinning 600's!

I am using my gear channel on the JR 9303 radio. The following picture shows the linkage that I made.

Cool..
Paul,
I am going to steal your shutter release mech.
Great job.

Also if you have any questions on setting up that Ion for AP you know how to get ahold of me.
They are great workhorses IMO for AP with a bit of tweaking.

Thief I didnt think you would do such a thing! In fact I have a patten pending on this idea. This is the little gadget that is going to make me my fortune.

Just kidding go ahead steal what you need it is simple and it works great for me. Keep on flying and shooting, I need to find some more interesting things to go shoot.

We will be talking on the Ion set up soon. I need to get a camera mount for it the sport 30 is to small

Those 710 SAB's you are using, are they semi-symmetrical or fully symmetrical? Also, what tail blades are you running? I just started my ION build tonight and need to start ordering a few things. Got my carrier coming Friday. Can't wait to get this baby in the air, although I'm going to take my time on the build. I figure about 30 or 40 hours worth. I've never built an MA ship before.

710 Night
Right now I have a set of SAB 710 night blades bolted to it.
Full symetrical.
I have also used 710 V-blades and Mavrikk
I found the V's to be a bit too much on this one and robbing a bit of power IMO, but I love them on everything else.
The Mavrikks...well lets just say they are my back up back ups.
They are REALLY flexy and I am afraid under the increased load of the mount they could boomstrike in a hard manuver.

Tailblades are right out of the box MA plastic 95mm (I think. ) that come in the kit.

MA kits build really well. Take your time on the Ion and make sure you follow all the directions ESPECIALLY the tailbox.
Get some Red and Green loctite before you start you will need it.

Paul,
Give me a buzz or better yet come to the Richland Fun fly on the 21st and we can go over it in person.

I would recommend the 3x mount for the Ion also. Works really well, but so did the sport for still work. Just too hard to try and point the helicopter to get the shot with the wind in the wrong place.

I use the HeliCam mout and have been very pleased with it and the service I have received.

On some of HeliCam adds you will see I photo of a crashed heli and cam mount that is mine it was my first attempt at AP the camera and heli where completely totaled by the camera mount only suffered a little damage, and that damage was repaired by Jody at HeliCam and returned to me within one week.
