Alright, I'm getting my new Toki 40 running pretty well overall. A problem I noticed, which only occurs maybe once or twice a flight at most. When I'm in normal or idle up and I start descending, the engine will rev pretty high. I know the engine is being unloaded as I descend, and it almost sounds like a car engine hitting a redline. Does this indicate a rich or lean idle adjustment? I only assume it's idle adjustment as it's when the throttle is backed down. Makes good smoke, and I can hold my finger to the backplate without a problem. Also at idle on the ground it's usually drips some oil out of the exhaust deflector. I would think this means it's rich, but I just want to get some advice, as I'd rather not screw up this really nice engine.

Try rich first, you did not say if you were at idle or higher when lowering throttle and having the problem, just that you were decending. Go into throttle hold and see if the engine drops right down, if it hangs you are too lean. Oil coming out of the pipe is normal. Chris

It may not be rich or lean at all although that is certainly possible. Did you try adjusting your throttle curve at whatever stick position you're descending at. If it starts, idles, transitions, and hovers fine the mixture just might be ok.

Well actually I'm running a GV-1, so I suppose that adds to the things I should look at.
