Hello
I have been flying for a couple of years (Raptor 50 / Xpec 90) and want to get into micro's. I belive that I am going to buy a t-rex, will you guys give me some equipment suggestions for all around good flight and intermediate 3d, their are so many motor/battery/charger/upgrade options. I appreciate your time

this forum is a wealth of information if you just go read. Dont be lazy man Its a bad way to introduce yourself. Go do some research and come back with more SPECIFIC questions

Dont mean to be rude but you should just show a bit of initiative here as this hobby is going to require lots of patience and attention to detail and research as well. You may as well get used to it now.

oops sorry i fired that off a bit too soon... was thinking you said you were new to heli's not just to micros. Its late over here.

Umm...the best info i can give you is to go look at trextuning.com. They have a section that pretty much suggests the best euquipment you can get depending on your budget. If you narrow it down to some particular choices and want opinions on which motor or servo you should get plenty of response from that.

I fly a couple trex;s and am happy with the stock align motor for normal flight and use a mega 16/15/3 for more aggressive flight. battery of choice is the thunder power 2100, charger doesnt matter as long as it does the job well. If you can afford it, get one which shows how much mAh you are putting back into the packs as this will be a good indicator of the health of your packs. the preferred gyro is the 401 or the csm 420 or 560. Either will work great but the CSM are MUCH lighter.

go light on your RX...berg is a favorite. Castle creations 25 or 35 is used alot but i still use the align ESC's (25amp) and love them. No problems to date and they are cheaper.

Get Hitec HS56 servos. Nearly indestructible compared to others and plenty of torque and speed for tail as well as the other applications. a nice fit as well.

that pretty much covers it. Upgrades arent really necessary on the Trex. most modifications which can be done to improve flight charactaristics are free and can be done with spare parts which come with the kit.

Finally, get one! you will love it.

P.S. I still think you are being a bit lazy

Hmmm..

Anyhow, this is what I have on my heli:

Castle Creations 35
Mega 16/15/3 but currently practicing and using an Align 400SF
Electron 6 receiver (some like using Berg)
(3) Hitec 56HB
(1) Hitec HS50 for the tail
Futaba Gyro 401 (you can use CSM, they are smaller as long as it has a good Head Hold)
Thunder Power 3S 2100mah (gives me almost 20 minutes of hovering time using my Align 400SF)
I personally use an Orbit Microlader V6.3(this had great reviews). I suggest getting this one instead, the Orbit Pocketlader Lithium charger.

I'm not into aerobatics yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I hope this helps..

I find that very hard to beleive. I run the same setup on one of my helis and 13 minuntes is the absolute limit.

This combo will give you between a raptor 30 and 50 flight charactoristics, tp 2100mah3cell, 3 hs56's 1 hs50 on tail, 401, just go fly 400dh motor, and align esc, I use a apache lipo charger. Put the stretch kit on it with the 335mm blades, cant bog mine down at all, mild 3d loops, rolls, inverted ,back flips, stationary rolls, high speed turns, you can take a little off the negative and add it to the positive collective if you want and it will climb like a rocket, but you lose the inverted climb out speed, Got mine setup to climb at the same speed inverted or not . hope this helps.

AnnihilaT,

Believe it or not.. But I am doing almost 20 minutes. I'm just mere hovering and practicing from point to point. No aerobatics for me...
Maybe because I land for a few seconds then spool up to hover.. I dunno.. I'm using a 13 tooth pinion. Btw, I live in the Philippines and it's really hot here..
