Whilst visiting Midland to fix my twitch problem I ended up buying a new set of blades (spares!!). (Incidently, don't you find that - you can NEVER get out of the store without buying something you didn't intend to - you just get mesmerised by the sight of all that stuff and before you know it your credit card is in the machine!!!)

Anyway - after discussions I went for a set of SAB blades rather than the BBT I have used before. Having briefly tried them out I'm not convinced yet. They seem noisier than the BBTs (wider chord I guess) and definitely give more lift (have to mess with the pitch curves when I get the chance). They are also about 10g lighter than my BBTs (which may be good or bad - not sure). I may be imagining things but the BBTs seem a little more "solid" in the hover.

Anybody got any other opinions they care to share on blade comparisons?

Hi
i used to fly SAB's 710, I now use BBT 700.

The following statement is a comparison, Both blades where set-up to give the max clime out rate without bogging down the head, Both blades produced roughly the same (SAB slightly More with less pitch)

In Short, At the moment I prefur the BBT. I found the SAB alot easyer to Bog down the head in fast pumping Moves like tic tocs, saying that they did tend to hold Flipping Moves (PiroFlips) at a level altitude with less pitch, hence not bogging the head down as much but the BBT blades till have enough to keep the move at a constant Altitude.

Moves like Nife Edge can be done with very little Pitch mangement with the BBT, the SABS on the over hand will stop the blades very fast if the Pitch is changed too fast. I found that from a stationary hover to a full clime out with gradule increase in pitch all the way the SABS would clime out faster, If from a Hover you bang the pitch staright in the BBT will respond faster and dont seem to bog down, ~The SAB on the over hand will kill the head speed almost instantly

Both Auto Very Simular, If i had to be pickey the SABS maybe give a split secound longer hang time but more negative pitch is req to keep the blades spooled up, and on the flare tend to spool up slightly faster resulting in the Longer hang. The BBT keep there Head speed easyer with less neg Pitch but on the flair dont seem to have as much avalible.

I think I prefur the BBT because I am very Pitch happy with the sticks.

(Quick UK Pilot) :- What can I do rather than What Can't I Do! :)
