The Quick of Japan dealer doesn't have "vairances in quality control". Remember that not all Quicks are the same heli. There are the Quicks that most folks around here know about, then there are the Original Quick of Japan helis. Do just a little snooping, you will be able to find the source for Quick of Japan helis. PM me if you like.

Sorry....my bad.....I guess I misread the original question. I get the feeling there is not going to be a right answer on this post.

I had several major complaints with my Quick helicopter.

1. There were a lot of missing and incorrect parts in the kit.
2. Some of the parts were machined incorrectly and had to be replaces.
3. Some of the metal was week and broke easily.
4. After I finally got all the mechanical bugs worked out it does not fly nearly as well as my Raptor. The performance vs cost was not a good investment.

Since you are doing research...I am assuming that you are trying to improve things?

The reason I never considered buying one is that there are a lot of posts about #1 in the post above and that the instructions are not very good.

If you made a list of manufactures, Quick would be quick to find at the bottom of the list.

All of the opinions of Quicks, are about the kits originating in Penn. are they not? There are Quick helis........then there are Quick of Japan helis. I don't want the two confused. There are differences in the kits......many many differences in qc.

I had one, an EP 10, from Quick World Wide in PA. It was a great heli. Flew very well, it was designed well, and the parts were high quality.

Then I called them for some parts... Ugh. Talk about attitude, they were rude and obviously didn't have time to answer the couple of questions I had. On top of that, the order I placed (about $100 worth) was incomplete when it arrived, with a note that 2 of the parts were on back order, and would ship when they came in. They didn't tell me that when I talked to them to place the order, and they charged my card for them. 2 MONTHS later the parts finally came.

At that point I had enough, and decided that I didn't want large electrics anymore, and if I did, I didn't want to have to deal with QWW for parts. It took a month for the heli to sell, and I didn't get anywhere near what it was worth out of it. All because of the reputation QWW has built for itself. I was stupid and got the heli knowing the rep. I should have paid attention and put my money into something like a Logo, or a converted Raptor.

That being said, the importer for Quick of Japan was very nice when I talked to him. I'd certainly consider his helis.

Don’t forget that after you get it working that it really does not fly that well. Quick helicopters are just not that good of a design – a Raptor flies MUCH better.

Quick needs to completely start over with a new series of designs.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Building them is a nightmare. The instructions are useless, and parts are generally missing from the kits. My EP10 was a great heli, and everything was very well machined/anodized/designed (except for the fact that there is no provision for actually mounting the electronics, how about a plate off the front like everyone ends up making themselves, QWW?), but from talking to others, that isn't always the case.

How would I fix the problems with QWW? Get rid of Irwin. There is no way around it. I realize he's the owner, but disassociate him from it. DO NOT let him answer the phone, or talk to people about them. Irwin, hire a REAL manager with people skills and sit at home and collect checks. From there, it'll all fall in place because a real manager will make sure that the kits are packaged correctly, and hopefully he'll get someone who can write real instructions.

The reputation is so strong that I read a review in a magazine of a plane from Giant Scale Planes, and decided to buy it. When I went to the website and saw that it was QWW, I said no way, and decided that I wasn't going to give them another penny.

My question is, are you yelling at me, or the person above me? And either way, you shouldn't be yelling at anyone, that is precisely the problem that people have with the communication at QWW. If you are a Quick Rep, you should be respectful, and communicate in an effective manner, not yelling at customers.

My quick flies great. I can only speak of the manuvers that I can do with it, but it flies as well, or better than any of the plastic helis that I have had in the past. I can do loops, rolls, limited inverted, stall turns(540deg), flips. Like I said, it's only limited by my capabilities. I've flown mine for over 12 gallons and only had to replace the tail rotor shaft bearings. Once again Quick of Japan, and QWW are two completely different companies. It's ashamed how one organization can ruin the the rep of a heli...........it also happened to TSK........hmm.
