Q. How long does it take to figure out you're NOT in Idle Up ?

A. About half way through a flip.

There is something about an electric that has me not thinking
straight, I just can't remember idle up and every time I land
I cuss because the engine died

And I have done flips in normal on my rap 50 but the trex
dropped like a brick.

Normal trex crash I guess, main shaft, boom, tail fin, skids. I mangaged
to get it level right before hitting and bouncing, the 315 woodies are
not hurt, I don't get that. Oh canopy is toast. Batteries not harmed.

Oh the motor popped out, but I guess that is normal too, I had to
search in the grass for an hour to find the gear.

So I guess about $20-30 , I can live that DOHHHHH.

I have done that so many times now that for normal mode I dont use very much negative pitch. So when you go to flip in normal and you give negative collective it really only goes a drop below neutral pitch. This way your headspeed doesnt completly drop. 3 times now I have flipped it without incident in normal mode. I wasnt trying to test it out I just was tired of crashing becasue I forgot the switch. The first 2 times it was setup with full negaitive. If you want to see your blades stop in a hurry pull full collective while shutting the motor off. Sorry to hear about your crash. You gotta love the repair prices though.
