I love my Dremel, and I believe that if the Dremel can't fix it, nothing can! But, what I can't stand is the way the Dremel rotates. Being right handed, it always seems that the most comfortable position to hold the tool is the same place that all the bits and pieces get thrown into my face. Has anyone found a good way to reverse the rotation?

The Dremel FAQ's state that the tool will be less effective if it gets reversed. Has anyone disproved this?

I agree the way it throws up the dust in your face is a bit irritating.

At least the direction of rotation "rolls" the bit away from you if you're not holding the handpiece firmly enough. They can't really reverse rotation, as all their cutting tips are designed for one direction only.

I always wear protective goggles and ear protection, even with the wee dremel.

Yes steel cutting bits with teeth or sharpened edges are directional
But today besides your typical abrasive stone bits
there are Sintered Diamond Bitswhich are unidirectional
I have a portable import Dremel type 12 volt which is designed to
work off a car battery that is reversible and some of the older
flex shaft units are either AC/DC or DC and reversible
Like the old Foredom type F

.
