So no one here sees any advantage to adding a bigger fuel tank, better landing gear mounts, a better switch mount, and other redesigned parts to the currently available X-Spec? What would be the harm in doing that? I understand the market for a very reasonably priced 90 size 3D machine, just trying to understand why there is no need or desire for the redesigned parts in a currently available high end machine.
Was that the subject of this thread or the title of a new one? I'm not saying that those aren't important goals but all those things take time and tooling costs money. Right now, speaking for just myself this new Evo is of interest to me.

Ryan,

Getting off topic is no big deal just a subtle jibe. I'm not saying that improving the X-Spec isn't a good idea but where should Hirobo spend their development time? Making new models or improving older models? The X-Spec is a pretty solid model at around a $900.00 price point. This model is a sub $700.00 price point. Do you remember how many Futura SE's were sold for $650.00? This point wasn't lost on Jeff Green and company, I guarantee it.

I know I can fly $2,000.00 radios, $1,500.00 Helicopters and 6,000.00 turbines because I've seen me do it but I get a real kick out of flying machines that don't cost a lot because it gives me the chance to do something that I can't put a price on and that is, improve my skills. Expensive models don't necessarily help me do that.

Will,

Glad to see you bright and bushy tailed from that marathon trip from Baltimore to B'ham. What a drive!

The thing for me concerning this machine is having a 91 size model that is cheap to fly and flies right. This looks like the makings of that to me.

I never stated that Hirobo should have been spending their time working on improving the X-Spec instead of improving the entry level machine. I just asked if they were planning on brining the appropriate improvements to the X-Spec line as well. I'm sure the new Freya will sell and fly very well; Hirobo does know how to build a nice heli.

The X-spec is just an upgraded Freya, so it would make sense that in a short while they may come out with an upgraded version of the Evo Freya and maybe call it the "Z-Spec"?

I never said you did either. All that I'm saying is: 'where should Hirobo spend their development time?'

Upgrades are a great thing but Hirobo already have some really expensive machines from which to draw technology from. The X-Spec isn't their top of the range model anyway, so it won't get all of their attention in terms of upgrades at least IMHO it won't.

Who knows what they will do. The only thing that I know is that the development engineers like the way this machine is flying, they like its price point and value for money. Is it perfect? Probably not but what is?

If you want a third bearing block, it looks like there is a place for one. If you want a better washout puller, one is available from the WC series. Need a one piece engine mount? They have one.

At this point I want to see what I get in the box before I start to wish for something else but that's me.

Hey I feel that way too, so can I come over?

What I would like to know is when and where can I get one of these things. Although I already have a 90 freya I believe I need this evo version so I must have one (or two).

Terry, I guess you know why so many guys spend all weekend at the field and only manage to get in one or two flights.

I tend to take 5 or 6 machines to the field and on a good day will get 3 flights on each machine and hardly ever do any maintenance to them. They are way down on Bling and way up on fuel consumption.

It's been my experience that the Bling and the expense don't neccessarily increase my enjoyment of the hobby.

I've had a ton of fun with my Freya, EVO and once the X-Spec is broken in, that one too. When I get a Freya Evo I plan on building it stock and seeing how it holds up to the mild sort of 3D that I can inflict on it. I fugure I'll put an OMI Viperhead and Cline carb equipped C-Spec with Funtech muffler on this machine, fuel it up and go fly it. It should be trouble free.

In my old age it doesn't take much to keep me happy. A couple of squares a day, a warm tongue on my face--from my dog of course, a cold six pack in the fridge and no all night maintenance sessions in the Bat Cave.

My Bling to Magnum ratio is all out of whack Right now the Magnum is winning.

a ton of fun
is what this new Freya EVO is all about...an affordable 90 heli, something you can have FUN with, learn new stuff without the pukker factor of the more expensive helis.

Only problem with this heli, is that I'll end up buying two of them

Vibe 90, Vibe 50, Vigor CS x2,
Dyna-x, Knight 503D, Logo 10,
TRex 500, Furion, Gaui EP200
