MrMel rrProfessor Gotland | I got my CC35 today, tried gov mode for the first time.Ive set the gov mode to "gov high" and put in a throttle curve that looks like 0-85-85-85-85 After a 10 min flight the motor was burning hot, With my old Align 25 ESC it was never even close to getting hot. Tips are welcome. Setup Mega 16/15/3 - 13TCC35 TP2100

MrMel rrProfessor Gotland | As stated, 13T, and it was a clean swap, only the ESC.

WRXRonald rrKey Veteran Auburn, OH | i'm on lehner with CC35 and 11 tooth, 315mm blades (not as bad with the CF blades, but the woodies are horribly draining for some reason, still everything is getting over-hot... prob is not as much the motor, although it is getting pretty warm....
but i'm stuck with 5 minute hover times on TP2100's and Tanic 2220s'......... and my electrical system is overheating somehow... getting battery-to-ESC JST connectors melting together in flight (just hot enough to start sticking together, causing me to be unable to separate them at the end of the 5 minutes when my soft cutoff breaks in at 9V setting.
running gov mode several different settings from 60-85%.... all of the settings are doing this, ranging max headspeeds tried so far are 2300-2600........
don't get it? i am waiting for a 10t pinion to arrive, if this doesn't solve my probs, i'm at a loss... i will then assume i've got ESC probs? who knows? i'm also going to upgrade to Deans connectors, but other than that... .i've obviously got some unusual amp draw going on........ previously had no problems using Align 400s, Align 25ESC, 100% throttle, 15t pinion-- which got 12 minute hover times and 2250 headspeed.
is it a bad idea to heatsink a lehner?

rckrzy1 rrElite Veteran Hurst Texas | Those seem way to small for 20-30 amps.but i'm stuck with 5 minute hover times on TP2100's and Tanic 2220s'......... and my electrical system is overheating somehow... getting battery-to-ESC JST connectors melting together in flight (just hot enough to start sticking together, causing me to be unable to separate them at the end of the 5 minutes when my soft cutoff breaks in at 9V setting

TheDudeVT rrVeteran Burlington VT | They ARE way too small- JST connectors are good for ~5 Amps at best... Once you go over that, they get really hot and add alot of resistance to your wiring. Deans Micro are good for ~10 amps or so and Deans Ultra are good for maybe ~50ish. Go get a bulk pack of Deans Ultra connectors and replace all the ones on your batteries, ESCs and chargers. You'll be glad you did- If you use them in other plankers or something, make a few adaptor harnesses.

WRXRonald rrKey Veteran Auburn, OH | yeah well the jst little ones were working with the 400s and 25 esc, where i was probably pulling 16amps, but yes they did get warm, and now with the Lehner and 35ESC they are starting to melt (oops)... so point taken, albeit about 4 months too late

MrMel rrProfessor Gotland | Im seeing the same question I asked on several boards, people having trouble with heat on the Mega 16/15/3 + CC35, something is fishy...Gonna switch over to Fixed mode tomorrow and see what the temp going to be on the engine. If that works then Im gonna try and downgrade the software revision on the CC.. Note: Was flying in 5 degrees celcius and you could touch the engine for a split second withtout getting burned after 10 min of hovering and FF, what would have happened if there was 30 degrees outside? - Fredrik

MrMel rrProfessor Gotland | I changed to fixed mode, and also I changed the battery connectors to deans ultra connectorsThat did the trick, after 11 min hover the temp are as follow. Motor: 90FEsc: 92F Battery: 130F Gonna try gov mode next with the new battery connectors, see if it was that or fixed mode that did it... - Fredrik
