I have the 8103 and I have no complaints. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer radios (9303 or 10X) but I don't use all the features the 8103 has as it is. The only downside I have run across is it can't handle the 140° eCCPM mixing used by the Vigor. My solution at this point is to convert my Vigor from 140° to 120° setup.

As far a PPM vs. PCM the transmitter is capable of doing both by simply changing the modulation type in the setup menu. The receiver is the determining factor for which mode you will be using.

My recommendation on this (even though I'm not doing it yet) is to run PCM. The reason for this is the ability to use failsafe in case of a loss of signal or excessive interference. It won't save the heli but it might reduce the damage.

Hi,
Agree with Nroof. The 3810 is an excellent radio that will see you through from beginner to advanced flying.

PCM vs PPM? I personally recommend PCM and been using it from day one. If you have had any minor glitches you will not even know as the reciever will retain the last known good signal. You can program the radio to go into fail safe mode which normally means closing down the throttle, much more desirable that the model flying away!!

Best Regards

Trevor

Don't say "Crash" say "Ground Proximity Incident"

To Nroof and Earl,

So for a beginner you give this radio the thumbs up with PCM.

I just need to find the cheapest place to buy it down here in Oz.
