You don't think of fruit when people mention "The Oranges."

You know that it's called "Great Adventure", not "Six Flags."

A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.

At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen and/or

know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.

You know what a "jug handle" is.

You know that WaWa is a convenience store.

You know that there are no "beaches" in New Jersey, there's "The

Shore".

And you don't go "to the Shore", you go "down the Shore". And when

you are

there, you're not "at the shore", you are "down the Shore," and you

know

that the road to the shore is "The Parkway" not "The Garden State

Highway."

Even your school cafeteria made good Italian subs. And it's a Sub, not

a submarine sandwich, a hoagie, a hero, or a grinder.

You know how to properly navigate a Circle.

You knew that the above sentence had to do with driving.

You know that this is the only "New" state that doesn't require "New" to

identify it (Mexico ... York ... Hampshire - doesn't work, does it?)

You don't think "What exit do you live off of?" is very funny.

You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton - that's

for out-of-staters.

The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.

You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.

You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.

Every year, you had a least one kid in your class named Tony, Joey, or

Johnny.

You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening

credits.

You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and

people from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South

Jersey go to Wildwood. It can be no other way.

You were not raised in New Jersey. You were raised in either North

Jersey, Central Jersey, or South Jersey.

You remember the following stores: Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's,

Channel, Bamburger's, and Orbach's.

You've had a Boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries and/or

Boardwalk sausage with peppers and onions and a fresh squeezed

lemonade.

You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.

When you say you're going to Englishtown you mean you're going to

the flea market, not the town.

You know that the only people who call it "Joisey" are from New York

(usually The Bronx) or from Texas.

You pronounce roof & creek: "ruff" & "crick."

You've known the way "down the shore" since you were seven.

You remember that the "Two Guys" were from Harrison.

You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery, nor is it all farmland.

You know that "Piney" isn't referring to a tree.

You remember the song from the Palisades Park commercials.

You know that "Acme" is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros

creation.

You know how to translate this conversation: "Jeet yet?" "No, Jew?"

You only go to New York City for day trips.

You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain

AND a fast food sandwich.

You consider a corned beef sandwich with lettuce and mayo to be a

sacrilege.

You can see the Manhattan skyline from some part of your town.

And finally...

You NEVER, NEVER pump your own gas.

.

You don't stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old because you stopped laughing.

I loved your Jersey list. Where do the heli pilots hide here in Northern NJ? Or fly? I am very new at this. I guess this is not a very popular (sport?) here in Jersey. When I fly my little park flyer draganflyer dozens of people contemplate mesmerized and afraid of the ufo. I don't need all the attention. -Y

This one amazed me. I was in Jersey for work and the first time I had to get gas I thought the guy was going to come unglued when I went to reach for the gas pump....

That's a safety issue.

Only highly skilled, trained, and qualified operators should ever be allowed to dispense gasoline

Glad I'm stupid!
